INTERNAL ARBITRATOR – 12 month Fixed Term Contract<\/p>\n
\tSantam presents an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team in the role of Internal Arbitrator based in Cape Town, Western Cape. This person will be responsible for the management of escalated Santam Limited complaints. \u00a0
\n\tThe successful candidate will demonstrate ethical behaviour, transparency, fairness and apply TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles in making decisions impartially and objectively.<\/p>\n
What will you do?<\/p>\n
\tAdjudication of short-term insurance disputes between Santam and policyholders or authorised representative of the policyholder in the most amicable way, ensuring a high quality disputes resolution.
\n\tRecommend the acceptance or rejection of claims taking all aspects pertaining to service, policy contracts into account, including law, fairness and equitable considerations.
\n\tProvide support to policyholders and senior management ensuring the interests of all parties concerned.
\n\tAdvise Santam on the best option in dispute resolution taking Treating Customers Fairly and any other legislative requirements into account.
\n\tManage an average of approximately 35 cases per month with a turnaround of 5 days for decisions, inclusive of date of refferal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualification and experience<\/p>\n
\tMinimum LLB or Bachelor of Laws. \u00a0
\n\tMaster\u2019s of Laws degree or Master of Dispute Resolution advantageous.
\n\tMinimum 10 years\u2019 experience in court litigation and various forms of legal disputes adjudication such as mediations and arbitrations.
\n\tSenior Counsel or retired judge\/magistrate
\n\tDraft written opinions and decisions.
\n\tAbility to build strong stakeholder relationships.
\n\tProven business acumen.
\n\tThe ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management
\n\tExperience in drafting and reviewing policy contracts in relation to its application and administration.
\n\tUnderstanding of technical and operational business requirements.
\n\tMust have knowledge of principles of legal interpretation.
\n\tInsurance process and product knowledge advantageous.
\n\t\u00a0Uncompromising personal ethical standards.
