\tReporting to Supervisor: M&E: – To do breakdown and planned maintenance and repairs to all electrical equipment in the SABC to ensure a constant and effective supply of electricity to all SABC facilities and staff.<\/p>\n
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS<\/p>\n
\tCarry out the maintenance of electrical machinery and equipment in the area appointed in order to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of systems.
\n\tCarry out daily inspections of all areas under his\/her responsibility in connection with electrical machinery and equipment.
\n\tMaintenance of electricity distribution infrastructure and the associated control plant at SABC MV and LV switchgears, MV and LV cable networks, Standby Generators Sets, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, building lights, Distribution Boards, Battery Tripping Units, Protection Relays and Electricity Metering.
\n\tProvide Line Manager with the descriptions and specifications
\n\tfor equipment and materials required for maintenance or repair on various items
\n\tCarrying out minor changes such as modifications to various systems as instructed
\n\tAssist in maintaining assets data base by providing equipment information and functional locations
\n\tPerform fault finding and root cause analysis on electrical machinery
\n\tCapturing maintenance feedback on the maintenance
\n\tmanagement system against the allocated work order or maintenance request.
\n\tRead and understand electrical drawings
\n\tSafely lifting of heavy equipment and tools
\n\tCarry out changes and installations to various systems as instructed.
\n\tInstallation, maintenance and upkeeping of submersible pumps.
\n\tInstallation and maintenance of sewerage systems and sewerage pumps
\n\tProvide inputs and perform work on electrical projects as and when required
\n\tCollaborate with contractors and other construction professionals
\n\tAssist with monitoring of projects to specification
\n\tBe prepared to be on standby and work overtime when required
\n\tRespond to all queries in the absence of the supervisor.
\n\tCarry out energy isolation procedure and issue work permits to staff and contractors
\n\tTaking leadership responsibility and supervising work on plant and machinery to ensure that the work is carried out safely
\n\tWork in diverse team under the supervision of the Supervisor-Electrical
\n\tCarry out any lawful instruction as directed by the line management
\n\tCoaching and training of new staff and apprentices<\/p>\n
BUSINESS OPERATIONS EFFICIENCY<\/p>\n
\tManage and maintain SABC facilities and properties as well as regions to ensure optimal utilisation.
\n\tManage property and facility leases nationally and internationally, in order to ensure optimal cost- effectiveness and utilisation.
\n\tEnsure the efficient procurement of goods and services at the right price, right quality, and right quantity, within the given time constraints and the defined tender process.
\n\tProvide an efficient, cost-effective transport service to the SABC.
\n\tOptimal utilization of resources, facilities, and assets to meet SABC strategic and operational requirements at a national level.
\n\tEnsure SABC compliance to Health and Safety legislation.
\n\tManagement of all service level agreements and contracts, ensuring delivery on SABC needs and requirements pertaining to copying, cleaning, postal, messenger, gardening and catering services.<\/p>\n
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n
\tDevelop budget as per SABC budget cycle and monthly review.
\n\tSet guidelines on optimal fund distribution\/ allocation in accordance with SABC budget constraints and strategic \/ operational requirements.
\n\tFormulation of short to medium term and long-term Capex Pans for Business Unit.
\n\tConsolidation, verification, and approval of Capex inputs according to approved strategy.
\n\tControl Capex and operational expenses within approved budgets.<\/p>\n
\u00a0GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE<\/p>\n
\tCarry out inspections of building.
\n\tAdhere to safety SOPs and regulations when working on electrical equipment especially high voltage power supplies to minimize the injuries on duty.
\n\tAdhere to safety regulations and standard safe practices.<\/p>\n
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n
\tAssist management in sourcing equipment and materials required.<\/p>\n
INHERENT\/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tNational technical qualification certificate (N3)
\n\tBe a qualified Artisan as an Electrician.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\t5 Years\u2019 experience in a maintenance and building environment
\n\tBe computer literate.<\/p>\n
KNOWLEDGE<\/p>\n
\tExtensive knowledge of electrical plant and equipment (MV and LV switchgears, MV and LV reticulation, transformers, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, motors and starters, variable speed drive, protection relays, battery tripping units, metering and BMS)
\n\tSwitching on High Voltage Systems
\n\tAdvance fault-finding techniques.<\/p>\n
