Purpose of the Role<\/p>\n
\tThe Public Investment Corporation SOC Ltd (PIC), one of Africa\u2019s largest asset managers, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic, operational, and organisational leadership across the business. This executive role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, ensuring effective governance, and enabling the organisation to deliver on its strategic mandate.
\n\tThe COO will oversee multiple functions, optimise business processes, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and ensure the organisation operates at the highest standards of performance, ethics, and compliance.<\/p>\n
Experience & Qualifications
\nMinimum Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tAt least 15+ years of Senior Management experience with significant experience in managing business operations, within the asset management or financial services sector.\u00a0
\n\tMinimum 5 years in Executive leadership\/Top Management
\n\tMaster\u2019s degree (MBA, MBL or equivalent)
\n\tStrong technical knowledge of governmental regulations, compliance requirements and policy considerations.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nOperational Leadership<\/p>\n
\tOverseeing the development and implementation of operational strategies, policies, and systems to support effective execution of the PIC\u2019s mandate.
\n\tLeading enterprise-wide operational functions to ensure efficiency, service excellence, and aligned performance.<\/p>\n
Governance, Risk, and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsuring adherence to all regulatory, legal, and governance requirements across the business.
\n\tStrengthening internal controls, operational risk management, and compliance standards.<\/p>\n
Organisational Performance and Transformation<\/p>\n
\tDriving performance culture, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and values.
\n\tLeading transformation initiatives, including diversity, inclusion, and employment equity priorities.<\/p>\n
Process Optimisation and Innovation<\/p>\n
\tChampioning continuous improvement, automation, and operational innovation.
\n\tEnsuring processes, systems, and technologies support best-practice asset management operations.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, partners, and service providers.
\n\tSupporting the CEO and contributing to PIC\u2019s strategic engagements.<\/p>\n
Financial and Resource Management<\/p>\n
\tOverseeing operational budgets, resource allocation, and cost optimisation.
\n\tEnsuring prudent management of organisational assets and operational resources.<\/p>\n
Technical & Professional Expertise<\/p>\n
\tDeep understanding of investment products, asset classes, and portfolio risk management.
\n\tStrong knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to asset managers.
\n\tExperience with risk models, stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk analytics.<\/p>\n
Leadership & Personal Attributes<\/p>\n
\tHigh level of integrity, independence, and sound judgment.
\n\tStrong executive presence with the ability to influence at Board and Exco level.
\n\tStrategic thinker with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset.
\n\tExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
