Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tThe Technical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the maintenance, servicing, and repair of port equipment and facilities to ensure optimal operational availability. The role includes oversight of Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC), Reach Stackers, Forklifts, and other port-related operational equipment.
\n\tThe Technical Supervisor will work closely with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and authorised service providers to arrange preventative maintenance, servicing, and major repairs. The role also includes conducting basic troubleshooting and minor repairs where applicable, while ensuring that specialised maintenance and major technical work are carried out by approved service providers or the equipment manufacturer.
\n\tThe position supports operational continuity by ensuring maintenance activities are properly coordinated, documented, and conducted in compliance with safety standards.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nMaintenance Coordination<\/p>\n
\tCoordinate and supervise the servicing, maintenance, and repair of Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC), Reach Stackers, Forklifts and other port operational equipment.
\n\tEnsure preventative maintenance schedules are implemented and adhered to.
\n\tMonitor equipment condition and identify maintenance requirements to prevent operational downtime.<\/p>\n
Supplier and Contractor Liaison<\/p>\n
\tLiaise with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and authorised service providers to arrange servicing, inspections, and repairs.
\n\tCoordinate the attendance of technicians and contractors for specialised maintenance activities.
\n\tSupervise contractor activities to ensure work is performed according to required technical and safety standards.<\/p>\n
Technical Support and Minor Repairs<\/p>\n
\tConduct basic troubleshooting and minor repairs where possible to minimise equipment downtime.
\n\tAssist with diagnosing technical faults and escalate complex technical issues to relevant service providers.<\/p>\n
Maintenance Records and Reporting<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment history documentation.
\n\tTrack preventative maintenance schedules and ensure services are conducted on time.<\/p>\n
Spare Parts and Maintenance Stores<\/p>\n
\tMonitor the availability of critical spare parts and consumables required for maintenance activities.
\n\tCoordinate with the procurement department regarding spare parts requirements and replenishment.<\/p>\n
Safety and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
\n\tPromote safe working practices and ensure contractors comply with safety requirements.<\/p>\n
Operational Support<\/p>\n
\tMaintain communication with operations teams regarding equipment availability and maintenance planning.
\n\tSupport initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and reducing operational downtime.<\/p>\n
Profile
\nMinimum Requirements<\/p>\n
\tTechnical Diploma or relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering disciplines.
\n\tMinimum 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably within port operations, container terminals, or industrial equipment environments.
\n\tExperience working with Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC), Reach Stackers, or similar heavy port equipment will be advantageous.
\n\tExperience coordinating with equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or external maintenance contractors.
\n\tAbility to conduct basic fault finding and minor repairs.
\n\tGood communication and coordination skills.
\n\tAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance documentation.<\/p>\n
