Role Overview<\/p>\n
The Medical Officer will oversee the\u00a0medical management of subacute rehabilitation patients, including those recovering from:<\/p>\n
\tPost-surgical procedures
\n\tAcute hospitalisation
\n\tStroke
\n\tOrthopaedic surgery (including hip replacements)
\n\tChronic medical conditions
\n\tDementia and geriatric care needs<\/p>\n
The focus of the role is to ensure\u00a0medical stability, rehabilitation progress, and safe discharge planning.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Duties include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n
\tConduct medical assessments on admission, including physical examinations and review of diagnostic information
\n\tDevelop and manage treatment plans aimed at improving rehabilitation outcomes
\n\tMonitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans where necessary
\n\tCollaborate closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, and nursing teams
\n\tProvide guidance to patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations
\n\tMaintain accurate clinical records on\u00a0Healthware (electronic medical system)
\n\tParticipate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
\n\tProvide telephonic medical guidance to nursing staff where clinically necessary
\n\tLiaise with referring specialists where appropriate<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tBachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)<\/p>\n
Experience & Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tProven Post community service experience
\n\tExperience in\u00a0internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, rehabilitation, or palliative care\u00a0advantageous
\n\tExperience working within a\u00a0multidisciplinary clinical team environment<\/p>\n
