{"id":32330,"date":"2026-03-19T14:00:28","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T14:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/mcl-superintendent\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T14:00:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T14:00:45","slug":"mcl-superintendent","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/mcl-superintendent\/","title":{"rendered":"MCL Superintendent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Description<\/p>\n<p>Safety &amp; Housekeeping\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tEnsure Compliance with the requirements of Safety, Health and Environment Standards and Procedures.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tMaintain a clean, tidy and safe work environment, free of any spillages or obstacles. \u00a0In line with 6S requirements.<br \/>\n\tMonitor and adhere to Safal Steel operating standards, working manuals, working instructions and procedures.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tShop Floor management.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tUpdating of SOPs\/ WI\/ Safety records\u00a0<br \/>\n\tInvestigate incidents and report.<\/p>\n<p>Equipment Operation &amp; Support<\/p>\n<p>\tEnsure safe, efficient and accurate operation of equipment according to operating procedures, instructions and schedules.<br \/>\n\tEnsure that the shift team complies with operating standards provisions for the Lines.<br \/>\n\tCommunicate with Maintenance in respect of planned and unplanned shutdowns and machine repairs.<br \/>\n\tPrepare shift placement and ensure that the shift team is at all times present in their respective work centres.<br \/>\n\tManage conflicts within the shift team members.<br \/>\n\tEnsure productive relationship with engineering, planning and Quality<br \/>\n\tVerify, sign off and ensure timeous submission of compensation related documentation to HR for processing i.e. approved overtime and leave forms.<br \/>\n\tIdentify near miss in working area in compliance with monthly safety meeting<br \/>\n\tManpower Training and development<br \/>\n\tIdentify defects and ensure required quality on the output.<br \/>\n\tInspection of incoming material in order to ensure quality of material on a daily basis.<br \/>\n\tEnsure team compliance with Safal Steel procedures and also statutory requirements.<br \/>\n\tEnsure proper handover of shift to the shift reliever team Production Technician are taking place.<br \/>\n\tEnsure optimum Line utilisation in order to achieve maximum production rate and maximise shift output.<br \/>\n\tMonitor process parameters according to operations requirements.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tConduct a Root Cause Analysis and establish remedial measures in order to minimise rejected tonnage, in short problem solving.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsure compliance to the prescribed material consumption norms.<br \/>\n\tMonitor and ensure availability of important utilities including cooling tower, compressor and cooling water.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tLiaise with Quality Assurance on input strip quality standard and ensure compliance to customer specifications.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tCheck i.e. coil data for proper coil identification and booking leave for all shift team members.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tCheck that all shifts are following line procedures, planning and checklist and keeping records.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsure quality and yield are maintained as per norms.<br \/>\n\tMonthly technical report with the following data<br \/>\n\tThroughput\u00a0<br \/>\n\tYield\u00a0<br \/>\n\tPlant Utilisation<br \/>\n\tStock take\u00a0<br \/>\n\tShutdown\/Delays\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEfficiency<br \/>\n\tSafety<br \/>\n\tContinuous Improvement<br \/>\n\tInitiate, participate and implement improvement programs and initiatives. This includes developing methods to improve plant performance and reduce operating cost.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tDrive and be a member of teams doing failure reporting for quality defects, delays, SHE incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n<p>\tContinuously reporting observed defects and deviations on the operating parameters and production requirements and promptly communicate solutions to the Production Manager.<br \/>\n\tAdherence to safe work practices and good housekeeping.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tSupervising operations &amp; managing the shift team.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAbility to develop SOP to required standard.<br \/>\n\tPerform incoming material inspection as per SOP.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tManage optimum utilization of production line.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tMonitoring of production parameters as per SOP.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsuring that output conforms to Quality SOP.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsure compliance to prescribed material consumption parameters.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tMonitor utilities i.e. cooling tower, compressor &amp; cooling water.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tLiaise with Maintenance &amp; Quality Assurance.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsure team compliance with procedure &amp; statutory requirements.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tResponsible for the shift team training and development.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tCapture data on SAP for coil identification, materials &amp; leave.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tSigning off &amp; submission of verified compensation related documentation to HR.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEnsure proper shift-handover.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tReporting of operating parameters\u00a0<br \/>\n\tGood supervisory skills e.g. Industrial Relations, Conflict Management, Disciplinary practices, Coaching Skills and Report Writing.<br \/>\n\tGood time management skills.\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAble to work under pressure.<br \/>\n\tAble to drive discipline<br \/>\n\tChange agent mentality<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<br \/>\nAcademic Qualifications Required:<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum academic qualification: Grade 12,\u00a0<br \/>\n\tNQF6\/7 with intense production experience<br \/>\n\tDiploma in Engineering from a recognised University of technology<br \/>\n\tTQM would be an added advantage.<br \/>\n\tMDP (Management Development Program) added advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Experience required:<\/p>\n<p>\t7 years leadership experience in steel processing plant<br \/>\n\tSteel Industry specific experience in Cold Rolling, Metal Coating or Colour Coating production lines a huge advantage<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( N \/ A ) or<\/p>\n<p>safal.mcidirecthire.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"http:\/\/safal.mcidirecthire.com","_company_name":"Safal Steel","_company_website":"http:\/\/N%20\/%20A","_company_tagline":"We are Africa\u2019s thought leader in world-class sustainable building solutions.
