Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tContribute to the Tribunal\u2019s adjudicative processes by facilitating panel preparation for hearings, including case management processes prior to hearings.
\n\tResearching specific legal, procedural, jurisdictional matters and broader competition law issues.
\n\tMentor junior staff on managing cases, research and drafting correspondence and decisions.
\n\tLiaising with external parties including lawyers, trade unions and other stakeholders in preparation for hearings.
\n\tKeep Tribunal Members abreast of developments in competition law and public policy in other jurisdictions and in scholarly publications.
\n\tProvide case overviews, pre- and post-hearing briefings on cases.
\n\tConduct case specific background research to facilitate Tribunal hearings.
\n\tDraft information requests, other correspondence and reasons.
\n\tUpdate the Tribunal\u2019s electronic database and jurisprudence.
\n\tParticipate in preparing and delivering seminars on new developments from cases.
\n\tContribute to creating and maintaining institutional knowledge practices and systems<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Skills and experience<\/p>\n
\tThe applicant must have a minimum of an LLB degree. A Masters degree will be an added advantage.
\n\tAdmitted as an Attorney\/Advocate of the High Court.
\n\tKnowledge of the Competition Act 89 of 1998 is essential.
\n\tResearch experience using electronic media is required.
\n\tWorking experience of minimum 8 years in competition law is essential.
\n\tOther work experience in related fields will serve as an advantage.
\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
\n\tPlanning, organising and time management skills.
\n\tAbility to work under pressure.
\n\tComputer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
\n\tAt least 3 years\u2019 experience in mentoring \/guiding junior staff<\/p>\n
