\tSunshine Seedling Services, part of the TWK group, has the following vacancy available: Vegetable Seed & Sowing Supervisor at Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n
Job Summary<\/p>\n
\tThis role involves overseeing all seed and sowing operations, including seed intake, germination testing, and supervision of the sowing process to ensure accurate production and stock control.
\n\tIt includes managing inventory levels, maintaining sowing equipment, ensuring ISO\u2011compliant procedures, and coordinating daily tasks to support efficient and high\u2011quality vegetable seedling production.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities and Duties<\/p>\n
\tOversee seed intake and stock recording, including weight checks for precise tracking
\n\tOrdering, receiving and germination of all seeds
\n\tRecord and analyse germination test results for all new seeds
\n\tSupervising sowing schedule
\n\tLead the sowing process, from coir expansion and tray placement to blanking and positioning trays on tables
\n\tSupervise and analyse germination process and ensure alignment with initial germination tests
\n\tMonitor inventory levels for seeds, growing media, and fertilizers
\n\tReceive and verify deliveries of growing media and trays from suppliers
\n\tConduct monthly stock takes on seeds, growing media, trays, and pallets
\n\tPerform basic maintenance on sowing machines, conducting both weekly and monthly checks
\n\tSupervise tray dipping processes and ensure compliance with ISO standards<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Skills<\/p>\n
\tMatric \/ Grade 12
\n\tProven experience in seedling production or a similar role
\n\tPrevious administrative experience
\n\tFamiliarity with ISO standards in agricultural processes (advantageous)
\n\tExperience with team supervision and training
\n\tStrong attention to detail
\n\tExcellent organisational skills
\n\tComputer literate (Microsoft Office Suite)<\/p>\n
