About this position<\/p>\n
\tiMasFinance, is a financial services Cooperative, is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer. This position reports to the Head: Legal and Compliance, and its main purpose is to \u00a0provide overall business enhancement by ensuring the legal contractual and regulatory requirements are adhered to, and to monitor compliance with relevant legislation in the financing environment of iMas.
\n\tThe successful candidate will be an innovative, dynamic and energetic self-starter with seasoned experience in their the legal environment.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n
Job Outputs:<\/p>\n
Legal<\/p>\n
\tProvide legal advice, analysis and\/or opinions on all legal matters.
\n\tIdentify any legal issues and impact that may arise from the changing regulatory landscape.
\n\tUpdate existing legal policies on an annual basis and provide to for approval and sign off<\/p>\n
Regulatory Compliance<\/p>\n
\tFormulate, implement and maintain a risk-based compliance plan on an annual basis.
\n\tConduct regular compliance monitoring exercises.
\n\tUpdate existing compliance policies on an annual basis and provide to for approval and sign off.
\n\tManage complaints from the relevant regulatory bodies.
\n\tPromote and sustain an ethical compliance culture.<\/p>\n
Reports<\/p>\n
\tPrepare reports on legal and compliance matters when called upon to do so.<\/p>\n
Training<\/p>\n
\tProvide input on legal and compliance related topics and policies to HR for training purposes<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tConsult and collaborate with all relevant external and internal stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Contract Management<\/p>\n
\tDevelop, implement and maintain a document management strategy.
\n\tManage of internal policies and guidelines (version control, change management).<\/p>\n
People Management<\/p>\n
\tComplete Individual Development Plan.
\n\tAttend learning and development courses.
\n\tParticipate in peer and team learning initiatives.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor’s Degree or equivalent (LLB or B Proc) is essential
\n\tCompliance Institute Membership
\n\tAdmitted attorney
\n\tValid Code 08 Driver\u2019s license<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\t7 years operational experience in contract management\u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowledge and Skills:<\/p>\n
\tComputer literacy (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
\n\tRelevant legislation and regulatory bodies
\n\tThe Co-operatives Act, the Companies Act and the Consumer Protection Act)
\n\tApplicable legislation (National Credit Act, POPI Act, Consumer Act)
\n\tFormulating strategies and concepts
\n\tReport writing skills
\n\tInterpersonal skills
