The Role:<\/p>\n
\tThe Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimising end-to-end operational functions within the LISP and Retail Investments environment. This role oversees multiple operational teams through Team Leaders, ensuring efficient execution of client\/advisor servicing, transaction processing, compliance, and service delivery aligned to regulatory and business objectives. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and operational excellence to support scale, risk management, and superior client experience.<\/p>\n
The duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):<\/p>\n
Operational Leadership & Strategy<\/p>\n
\tDrive operational strategy aligned with business goals and growth targets
\n\tLead, mentor, and develop Team Leaders to ensure high performance and succession planning
\n\tEstablish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and client-centricity
\n\tTranslate strategic objectives into operational plans and measurable outcomes<\/p>\n
Team Management & Capability Building<\/p>\n
\tManage performance of 3 Team Leaders overseeing \u00b148 administrators
\n\tImplement structured performance management frameworks (KPIs, SLAs, KRAs)
\n\tCoach leaders on people management, productivity, and engagement
\n\tIdentifying training needs and management thereof.
\n\tDrive workforce planning, capacity modelling, and resource optimisation
\n\tLead employee engagement and retention initiatives<\/p>\n
Operations Oversight (LISP & Retail Investments)<\/p>\n
Oversee end-to-end processes, including:<\/p>\n
\tInvestment onboarding (KYC, FICA, AML compliance)
\n\tTrade processing (unit trusts, LISPs, switches, redemptions)
\n\tClient \/ Advisor servicing and query resolution
\n\tCoordinate cross-functional activities to ensure end-to-end service delivery
\n\tEvaluate quality standards from multiple sources and develop action plans to address process gaps, mitigate risks, and enhance the client\/advisor experience.
\n\tOverall platform administration and monthly & adhoc reporting
\n\t\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ensure:<\/p>\n
\tSLA adherence and turnaround times
\n\tHigh levels of accuracy and quality control
\n\tProcess standardisation and documentation<\/p>\n
Regulatory & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FAIS, FICA, POPIA, AML)
\n\tImplement and monitor internal controls and risk mitigation frameworks
\n\tManage audit processes (internal and external) and address findings
\n\tEnsure adherence to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles
\n\tMaintain operational risk registers and incident management processes
\n\tMaintain Business Continuity Processes<\/p>\n
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement<\/p>\n
\tIdentify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
\n\tDrive automation and digitisation initiatives
\n\tUse Six Sigma principles where applicable (Focuses on Speed and efficiency, focuses on quality and accuracy, eliminates waste, reduces variation, improves flow, Uses data\/statistics)
\n\tMonitor operational metrics and implement data-driven improvements<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tEngage and build healthy relationships with internal stakeholders (Distribution, Compliance, IT, Finance)
\n\tCollaborate with third party providers and platform partners
\n\tProvide operational input into new product launches and system enhancements
\n\tPresent operational performance to senior leadership<\/p>\n
Financial & Performance Management<\/p>\n
\tManage departmental budget and cost efficiencies\/cost reduction
\n\tTrack productivity, cost-per-transaction, and operational KPIs
\n\tDrive efficiency improvements while maintaining high service quality<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field
\n\tPostgraduate qualification (advantageous)
\n\t8\u201312+ years in investment operations within LISP & Retail\/platform environments
\n\t5+ years in a leadership role managing managers and team leaders
\n\tStrong understanding of retail investment products (unit trusts, retirement products, discretionary investments)
\n\tProven experience managing large operational teams (40+ staff)
\n\tExperience with regulatory frameworks in financial services Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.<\/p>\n

\n\tFund pricing and valuations
\n\tReconciliations and cash management
