Role summary:<\/p>\n
\tThe Enrolled Nurse is responsible for direct and\/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and\/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.\u00a0
\n\tThe incumbent is held accountable for his\/her own acts and omissions.\u00a0
\n\tNursing activities form part of a nursing regime that is planned and initiated by the Registered Nurse. \u00a0The Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, care and meeting of patient needs and will also be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care to ensuring high quality patient care.<\/p>\n

CONSISTENCY OF CARE
\nAdministration Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure that all documentation is maintained timeously and accurately, reflecting patient care.
\n\tEnsure all stock is charged appropriately.
\n\tAssist with file compilation.<\/p>\n
Governance, quality and risk management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards.
\n\tAdhere to Netcare medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles.
\n\tMaintain a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
\n\tReport potential\/actual risks identified.
\n\tEnsure all stock is well controlled.
\n\tResponsible for ensuring correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment.
\n\tReport equipment needing repair or replacement to sister-in-charge.
\n\tMaintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
\n\tMaintains patient confidentiality at all times.
\n\tActs in a supervisory capacity over ENA\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Patient care<\/p>\n
\tPractice patient care according to his\/her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
\n\tContribute to the holistic care of patients.
\n\tParticipate in ward\/unit\u2019s quality improvement programme.
\n\tAttend handover of report at shift commencement.
\n\tEffective communication with patients\u2019 regarding their care.
\n\tPromotion of patient overall health and wellbeing.
\n\tPractice the principles of infection prevention and all standard precautions.
\n\tPromote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.
\n\tExecute all procedures according to hospital standards.
\n\tRefer all complaints from patients and doctors to sister-in-charge of the unit.
\n\tCarry out all departmental duties as assigned by supervisors.<\/p>\n

SKILLS PROFILE<\/p>\n
\tRegistration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse or equivalent NQF 3 qualification.
\n\tCompliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation.
\n\tRelevant experience in the nursing discipline would be an advantage<\/p>\n
