\tThe Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and analytical data models that support the FMCG value chain. The role ensures reliable, high-quality data for reporting, planning, forecasting, supply chain visibility, commercial insights, and operational decision-making across the organization.<\/p>\n
Job Description
\nWHAT YOU WILL DO:<\/p>\n
Data Engineering & Integration<\/p>\n
\tDesign, build, and maintain scalable ETL\/ELT pipelines using SQL Server and SSIS, following DevOps-aligned development practices.
\n\tDevelop integration solutions across ERP, supply chain systems, trade promotion systems, and partner data feeds.
\n\tImplement automated testing, version control, and deployment using Azure DevOps Repos, Pipelines, Artifacts.<\/p>\n
Data Modelling & Warehousing<\/p>\n
\tDesign and optimize star schemas, fact tables, and conformed dimensions in SQL Server and SSAS.
\n\tBuild and maintain SSAS Tabular models with proper partitioning, incremental refresh, and data security.
\n\tEnsure data warehouse structures follow CI\/CD standards using Azure DevOps for controlled releases.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Analytics<\/p>\n
\tPrepare optimized datasets and enterprise-grade semantic models for Power BI.
\n\tDeploy Power BI datasets and reports .
\n\tImplement row-level security, model governance, and performance improvements.
\n\tDesign and maintain business-centric semantic layers (e.g., Power BI datasets, SSAS Tabular models) to enable consistent, self-service analytics.<\/p>\n
Data Platform Operations<\/p>\n
\tEnsure SQL Server environment stability including indexes, jobs, backups, partitioning, and performance tuning.
\n\tDevelop automated deployment processes for SSIS packages, SSAS models, and SQL scripts using Azure DevOps CI\/CD pipelines.
\n\tImplement monitoring and alerting for data jobs with DevOps dashboards and automation tools.<\/p>\n
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tWork closely with business units to understand FMCG data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
\n\tParticipate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and DevOps ceremonies.
\n\tMentor junior engineers on DevOps practices, coding standards, and best practices.<\/p>\n
Operational Support<\/p>\n
\tLead the operational support of data platforms, pipelines, and analytics solutions, ensuring high system availability and rapid incident resolution.
\n\tProactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data job failures, performance bottlenecks, and user issues.
\n\tDrive root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
\n\tOversee scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and deployments, coordinating with cross-functional teams to minimize business disruption.
\n\tDevelop and maintain comprehensive operational documentation and mentor team members in best practices for incident response and platform reliability.<\/p>\n
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:<\/p>\n
\t10+ years as a Data Engineer in a complex enterprise environment.
\n\tExpert in SQL Server (T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, security).
\n\tStrong hands-on experience with SSIS, including complex ETL packages and optimization.
\n\tStrong ability with SSAS Tabular (Multidimensional advantageous).
\n\tAdvanced Power BI (DAX, modelling, enterprise dataset design).
\n\tProven experience using Azure DevOps including:
\n\tPipelines for automated builds, deployments, and releases
\n\tAutomated package deployment for SSIS\/SSAS\/SQL
\n\tStrong understanding of data warehousing methodologies (Kimball).<\/p>\n
Business and FMCG<\/p>\n
\tDeep understanding of FMCG processes including:
\n\tProcurement & Raw Materials
\n\tManufacturing, BOMs & Production
\n\tWarehousing, Inventory, and Logistics
\n\tTrade Promotions & Commercial
\n\tProduct & Customer hierarchies
\n\tFinance (COGS, GL)
\n\tAbility to design and model datasets that serve cross-functional FMCG needs<\/p>\n
Soft Skills<\/p>\n
\tStrong communication and influence skills across IT and business teams.
\n\tAbility to troubleshoot complex data issues quickly.
\n\tStructured documentation and governance mindset.
\n\tExperience mentoring and guiding technical teams.
\n\tDeadline-driven, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
\n\tDemonstrates strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to deliver results under pressure.<\/p>\n
Advantageous:<\/p>\n
\tERP knowledge (Oracle EBS, SAP) in FMCG context
\n\tKnowledge of MDM and data governance practices
\n\tPrevious experience on Oracle database in a data warehousing environment
\n\tPrevious experience with Strategy (MicroStrategy)<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field.
\n\tMicrosoft certifications (SQL, Data Engineering, Power BI) beneficial.<\/p>\n
