\tWe are seeking a motivated, fashion-passionate, and commercially minded Assistant Buyer to join our Ladieswear Apparel team.
\n\tThis role is ideal for someone with experience in the fashion retail industry, preferably within ladieswear apparel. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn and build a long-term career in fashion buying. Buying administration experience is advantageous but not essential \u2014 we are open to developing the right candidate and will provide guidance, mentorship, and exposure across the full buying function.
\n\tYou will support the Buying Team across the entire product lifecycle, helping to deliver compelling, customer-focused ranges that excite our customers while achieving departmental and business objectives. This role operates within a fast-paced, deadline-driven retail environment.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Buying Support & Range Coordination<\/p>\n
\tAssist the Buyer with range preparation, coordination, and presentations
\n\tSupport the end-to-end merchandise buying process
\n\tPrepare data and materials for range and post-range reviews
\n\tCoordinate and assist with range execution in alignment with business objectives
\n\tSupport the Buyer during supplier negotiations and cost discussions<\/p>\n
Market & Trend Involvement<\/p>\n
\tConduct trend research and competitor analysis
\n\tAnalyse local and international market activity
\n\tInterpret trends and adapt them to different target markets
\n\tContribute trend insights to range development<\/p>\n
Supplier Relations & Product Management<\/p>\n
\tSupport supplier communication and relationship building
\n\tCoordinate product samples, fit sessions, approvals, quality checks, and feedback
\n\tAssist with the approval and order management processes
\n\tManage, organise, and control sample stock
\n\tMaintain documentation relating to supplier terms, delivery schedules, and compliance<\/p>\n
Commercial & Performance Support<\/p>\n
\tMonitor sales trends and stock performance to support range decisions
\n\tSupport pricing analysis and margin tracking
\n\tPrepare competitor price and product comparisons
\n\tAssist with post-range analysis and reporting<\/p>\n
Internal Collaboration<\/p>\n
\tLiaise with cross-functional teams including Design, Planning, Marketing, E-commerce, Supply Chain, Quality, and Merchandising
\n\tEnsure effective communication to meet timelines and product expectations<\/p>\n
Administrative & Process Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and manage critical paths
\n\tUpdate and maintain accurate buying documentation and product information
\n\tSupport forecasting and purchase order tracking
\n\tAssist with reporting and data analysis as required<\/p>\n
Experience & Qualifications Required<\/p>\n
\tMatric \/ Grade 12 certificate
\n\t1\u20133 years\u2019 experience in the fashion retail industry (buying administration experience advantageous but not essential)
\n\tExposure to clothing retail processes, ideally fashion apparel
\n\tBasic understanding of the retail cycle and merchandise buying principles
\n\tGood understanding of fashion trends, silhouettes, fabrics, garment construction, and fit
\n\tProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel essential)<\/p>\n
Advantageous<\/p>\n
\tRelevant qualification in Fashion, Retail, or Buying preferred
\n\tExposure to PLM or ERP systems
\n\tExperience assisting in product development or trend research<\/p>\n
