Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tTo oversee the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods during the night, thereby meeting customer service levels and reducing costs.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Strategy Execution:<\/p>\n
\tWork closely with the Logistics Manager and the transport management team to ensure the delivery of an integrated supply chain benefit and strategic target achievement.
\n\tDrive the implementation of improvements in warehouse operations to achieve significant gains in efficiency.
\n\tEnsure the implementation of warehouse operations and maintenance policies and procedures throughout the hub.
\n\tManage the system for keeping stock control systems up to date and plan future capacity requirements based on forward planning.<\/p>\n
Operations Management:<\/p>\n
\tControl and monitor inventory levels and replenishment processes.
\n\tMaintain the physical condition of the warehouse(s) by planning and implementing new design layouts in conjunction with the Day Manager; inspecting facilities and equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
\n\tManage warehouse operational requirements by deploying warehouse operational employees and following up on work results.
\n\tContinuously consider cost reducing strategies over all activities of the warehouse.
\n\tManage the housekeeping of the warehouse(s).
\n\tManage the system of picking, checking and loading to ensure productivity and compliance targets are met.
\n\tEnsures that all tasks, activities and operations that are carried out on the night shift are coordinated with day duties and activities.
\n\tEffectively and in a timely manner communicate with the Logistics Manager and Day Warehouse Manager regarding any issues, exceptions or problems occurring on the nightshift that warrant their attention.
\n\tEnsure customer orders are filled and placed on trucks in the proper order as described in the loading procedures.
\n\tEnsure that all orders leaving the warehouse are correctly packed and damage free.
\n\tManage the execution of the transport plan.
\n\tPerform regular system health checks regarding replenishments, transfers, returns not completed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Warehouse Maintenance Management:<\/p>\n
\tOversee the planned and unplanned maintenance of warehouse equipment.<\/p>\n
Risk Management:<\/p>\n
\tEnsure ISO compliance throughout the warehouse(s), including health and safety and food safety.
\n\tConduct daily health inspections and risk compliance inspections incorporating:
\n\tForklift inspections.
\n\tLighting inspections.
\n\tReach truck inspections.
\n\tFacility inspections.
\n\tDamaged stock.
\n\tParticipate in the risk committee and in HIRA work studies.
\n\tEnsure warehouse compliance with all national and provincial legislation and regulations, international SHERQ standards and with company policy.
\n\tEnsure the safeguarding of warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.<\/p>\n
Team Management:<\/p>\n
\tMonitor team performance and provide regular performance feedback.
\n\tCoach and support the team where necessary to achieve objectives.
\n\tLead the team towards meeting the strategy and targets through regular communication and utilisation of the full organisational talent management tool set.
\n\tAddress poor performance in individuals and teams in accordance with company policy and the relevant legislation.
\n\tConduct regular meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon.<\/p>\n

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required for the Job<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tMatric (Grade 12).
\n\tDiploma or degree in Warehouse\/Logistics Management.
\n\tValid Code EB drivers\u2019 licence.
\n\tMinimum 5\u20138 years\u2019 experience in a warehouse and transport\/distribution environment.
\n\tAt least 2\u20133 years in a supervisory or management role within warehouse operations (essential).
\n\tProven experience managing inbound, outbound and transport functions simultaneously.<\/p>\n
Experience working in a high-volume, FMCG or cold chain environment (highly advantageous).
\nSkills and Competencies<\/p>\n
\tSystem skills (SAP MM and BW, MS Office skills prerequisite).
\n\tStrong operational leadership and team management capability.
\n\tAbility to drive performance against KPIs (productivity, service levels, accuracy).
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost reduction.
\n\tEffective communication skills across all organisational levels.
\n\tHigh level of planning, coordination and organisational skills.
\n\tAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.<\/p>\n
