PURPOSE OF THE POSITION<\/p>\n
\tThe person to be appointed in this position is responsible to teach primarily in the field of Systematic theology to undergraduate students in the relevant theological programs.
\n\tThe person needs at least a doctorate in Systematic theology on NQF level 10. Knowledge and experience in another theological discipline, e.g. African practical theologies or theologies in Africa will be a recommendation.
\n\tOn postgraduate level, the position requires that the person to be appointed equips students with critical skills to, \u00a0understand recent developments in the field of Systematic theology, and\u00a0subsequently contribute to research in the fields. Evidence of published research will therefore be necessary.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
Teaching and Learning<\/p>\n
\tTeaching on undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
\n\tAdditional teaching responsibilities in other theological disciplines as required by the faculty from time to time.<\/p>\n
Research<\/p>\n
\tDemonstrate continuous research activity in line with the strategic planning of the chosen research entity.<\/p>\n
Community engagement<\/p>\n
\tBe able to link teaching and research to meaningful engagement within the community in a context of choice.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tPh.D. degree in Systematic theology.
\n\tA Minimum of Three (3) years\u2019 experience of teaching in tertiary context.
\n\tSignificant record of research outputs on senior lecturer \/ associate professor level.
\n\tSuccessful guidance and deliverance of post graduate students on masters and doctorate level.
\n\tMembership in relevant scholarly societies.<\/p>\n
KEY FUNCTIONAL\/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tShould function in accordance with the NWU teaching\/learning and research policies within the faculty.
\n\tShould make contributions to current subject knowledge on national and international levels.
\n\tShould be able and willing also to teach in other field(s) of theological study, if required.
\n\tThe candidate should be able to handle typical academic administration (meetings, marks, study material) effectively.
\n\tAppropriate IT knowledge and skills, and willing to undergo further training in this regard.<\/p>\n
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tAbility to contribute to good relations among staff members in the faculty.
\n\tShould be able to work in a team setup regarding teaching, administrative duties, research and innovation, and community engagement.
\n\tBe able to build a good report with the students and act as inspirational role model and mentee for students and junior colleagues.<\/p>\n
