Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tAs an Intellectual Property Controller, you will support our publishing teams by managing key compliance processes, researching third\u2011party rights, and helping safeguard the integrity of our content. You\u2019ll work across plagiarism checks, permissions clearance, risk assessment, and record\u2011keeping, contributing to high\u2011quality educational materials used across Southern Africa.<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities include:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tIP Rights Management: Conduct plagiarism checks, manage third\u2011party content workflows, complete risk assessments, and communicate recommendations.
\n\tPermissions Project Management: Assess materials for rights requirements, set up and maintain project folders, and engage with copyright holders for clearance.\u00a0
\n\tCollaboration & Communication: Support publishers with copyright guidance and negotiate effectively with external rights holders.\u00a0
\n\tAdministrative Support: Track and archive IP documentation, oversee invoicing, and help improve internal processes.
\n\tReporting & Records: Maintain contract records, generate permissions reports, and analyse trends to support strategic decisions.<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
Qualification<\/p>\n
\tUndergraduate degree in arts or social sciences subjects (e.g. English, history, linguistics and philosophy), Publishing, or a related field\u00a0
\n\tProject management training or qualification advantageous\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tAt least 1 year working experience, ideally in publishing, editorial\/permissions, library studies, or research\/administrative roles\u00a0
\n\tProject management experience with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects\u00a0
\n\tStrong technical skills, particularly MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)\u00a0
\n\tExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\u00a0
\n\tDetail-oriented, organised, and able to meet deadlines\u00a0
\n\tAnalytical and problem-solving skills\u00a0
\n\tSelf-motivated, proactive, and strategic thinking\u00a0
\n\tAble to work effectively in a hybrid environment<\/p>\n
