RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tLabel sample plates correctly
\n\tPrepare samples accordingly for DNA extraction. This may include cutting seed, germinating seed, sampling roots or sampling leaves \/ flesh.
\n\tUse the correct DNA extraction buffer for certain crops and sample types.
\n\tSelecting the correct protocol on the DNA extraction instrument and perform the DNA extraction.
\n\tOperating the DNA extraction instrument.
\n\tDiluting DNA accordingly for certain crops and sample types.
\n\tMaintaining and updating lab journal daily.
\n\tGeneral maintenance of centrifuges, Oktopure, ice machine, pipettes, fridges and freezers and all other lab equipment.
\n\tOrganizing SNP markers in freezers.
\n\tDisposal of waste in containers daily and refiling wash containers.
\n\tStore all documents in relevant files daily.
\n\tInteracts appropriately and respectfully with others
\n\tOffers expert service \/ advice to colleagues.
\n\tDisplays a positive attitude towards the company and its goals.
\n\tDevelops constructive and co-operative working relationships with team members inside and outside the team.<\/p>\n
REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma in B Tech \/ BSc Agric \/ BSc similar area (essential)
\n\t1 years experience in Graduate placement or Intern in a molecular biology Lab (essential)
\n\t1-3 years experience in the Plant genetics or molecular biology (advantage)
\n\tB Tech \/ BSc \/ BSc Agric degree (NQF level 7) (advantage)<\/p>\n
