Job Description<\/p>\n
\tThe Staff Geologist is responsible for providing specialist geological service for the effective ongoing extraction of the mine ore reserve. Covering all technical inputs for geological mapping and modelling purposes that would assist with solving geological problems, conducting of evaluations, assisting with mine planning and ensuring effective production and negotiation of the underground reef horizon.
\n\tThe role involves using sophisticated systems software (Supported with data from detailed observations and drill core information) to predict and monitor the geological structures underground.
\n\tAt an operational level the role is required to provide geological service support to the ongoing management and control of the production effort. This will include providing grade control intelligence, identify and negotiate geological faults and problems, provide geological advice to assist production to achieve monthly call and assist with safety management where appropriate. The role will be required to travel to sites frequently and for extended periods.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBSc Hons in Geology
\n\tMasters or doctorate level qualifications would be advantageous\u00a0
\n\tOther relevant training such as vocational or course-based Exploration\/Economic Geology.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum of 5-10 years of geology-related experience.
\n\tMineral Systems Frameworks experience preferred.
\n\tImplicit modelling experience preferred.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\tManagement of observations and logging for geological mapping and interpretation purposes
\n\tCorrect capturing and interpretation of geotechnical data
\n\tPreparation of structural plans and ongoing updating
\n\tManagement of ore reserve for area of control
\n\tReef horizon modelling
\n\tUnderground mapping
\n\tGeological guidance for on-reef and off-reef development
\n\tMaintenance of geological standards
\n\tManagement and supervision of underground Observers
\n\tAssistance with departmental planning
\n\tProvide Geological input into mine planning and related projects
\n\tGeneration of underground Geological reporting and intelligence for production decision support
\n\tIdentifying and assisting in the negotiation of geological disturbances
\n\tGeological systems administration
\n\tRoutine work such as: Underground\/Surface logging\/mapping, monitoring potential\/exposed geological hazards
\n\tGroundwater management\/control in the area of control
\n\tImplementing Geology standards for the area
\n\tIdentifying underground geological anomalies
\n\tScheduling of observations in line with production requirements
\n\tScheduling of underground core drilling if required from the role
\n\tInterpretation and analysis of geological information for prediction of geological structures
\n\tValidate all data and derived results
\n\tAdvice on underground geological issues
\n\tPreparation of Geology plans, maps, layouts and reports for area of responsibility<\/p>\n
