{"id":33737,"date":"2026-04-11T08:00:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T08:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/programme-assistant-south-africa\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T00:24:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T00:24:44","slug":"programme-assistant-south-africa","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/?post_type=job_listing&p=33737","title":{"rendered":"Programme Assistant, South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPECIFIC DUTIES:<\/p>\n<p>\tProvide overall technical leadership and ensure high-quality delivery of all project components and outputs.<br \/>\n\tCoordinate alignment with national and regional programmes, initiatives, and restoration projects.<br \/>\n\tCoordinate and manage small grants programme for effective implementation of the national and regional initiatives.<br \/>\n\tCoordinate with implementing partners, government agencies, and regional service providers for effective collaboration and knowledge exchange on Natural Resources.<br \/>\n\tPlan, implement, and monitor project outcomes, outputs, and activities in line with approved frameworks, work plans, and budgets.<br \/>\n\tSupport resource mobilization efforts and promote the application of Nature-based Solutions, Ecosystem-based Adaptation, Sustainable Land Management, Great Green Wall, International Waters and Wetlands Management.<br \/>\n\tSupport and oversee implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&amp;E) framework and lead knowledge management and reporting processes.<br \/>\n\tFacilitate project reviews and evaluations, including Mid-Term and Terminal Evaluations, and ensure timely submission of reports.<br \/>\n\tProvide strategic financial oversight, ensuring proper expenditure management, compliance, and value for money.<\/p>\n<p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>\tProject Coordination, Management and Technical Leadership;<br \/>\n\tEnsure project activities are aligned with GEF results-based management frameworks and the Theory of Change.<br \/>\n\tFacilitate coordination among implementing partners, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure coherent implementation and reporting.<br \/>\n\tEnsure integration of cross-cutting priorities, including gender equality, youth engagement, social inclusion, and climate resilience.<br \/>\n\tEnsure the technical quality and relevance of project interventions to national and regional priorities.<br \/>\n\tRepresent IUCN in various platforms such as the Ramsar Convention, CBD, and UNCCD.<\/p>\n<p>Resource Mobilization and Partnerships;<\/p>\n<p>\tRepresent IUCN in relevant national, regional, and thematic platforms to strengthen visibility, build partnerships, and share lessons learned.<br \/>\n\tSupport other GEF initiatives in the region through technical inputs and knowledge sharing.<br \/>\n\tStrengthen multi-stakeholder platforms to promote knowledge sharing, policy coherence, and joint planning.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Knowledge Management;<\/p>\n<p>\tEnsure effective dissemination of knowledge products and project results at national, regional, and global levels.<br \/>\n\tSupport capacity building of project staff and partners on M&amp;E and knowledge management systems.<br \/>\n\tEnsure consistency and quality in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support adaptive management and continuous learning.<\/p>\n<p>Financial and Administrative Oversight;<\/p>\n<p>\tProvide Monitor financial performance regularly to ensure cost-efficiency, value for money, and timely identification of variances or financial risks.<br \/>\n\tEnsure financial management aligns with GEF, IUCN, and implementing\/executing agency policies and procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Outputs Expected;<\/p>\n<p>\tDevelops, implements, monitors and evaluates assigned programme\/projects.<br \/>\n\tProvides thorough, well-reasoned written contributions, e.g., background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.<br \/>\n\tDevelops and maintains effective working relationships.<br \/>\n\tPromulgate coherent policies, and consistent adherence to these by clients.
