We are looking for an Engineering Manager who has overall responsibility for engineering projects, maintenance, utilities, production lines, processing plants, and buildings within the sourcing unit. The role\u2019s primary objective is to deliver engineering excellence, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safe, reliable, and cost\u2011effective operations that contribute directly to factory performance and sustainability targets.
\n\tThis role also leads asset care, engineering spares, site services, and capital project delivery to fully support manufacturing activities.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nEngineering, Projects & Asset Management<\/p>\n
\tLead technical and maintenance teams delivering projects, innovation, infrastructure, and site services.
\n\tDrive optimal utilization, reliability, and lifecycle management of site assets.
\n\tLead innovation implementation, identifying fit\u2011for\u2011purpose design solutions aligned to category and USCC\/category technology standards.
\n\tOwn and deliver the approved capital projects portfolio, from design through commissioning and handover, following TPM Early Equipment Management principles.
\n\tPrepare and manage Capital Expenditure proposals and budgets, aligned with cluster and category requirements.
\n\tLiaise with Category and Engineering Excellence teams on technology upgrades and standards.<\/p>\n
Safety, Quality & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the highest standards of quality, delivered at optimal cost.
\n\tAccountable for Health, Safety & Environmental compliance across all engineering and project activities.
\n\tLead safe design, implementation, commissioning, and handover, including PHA, HAZOPs, MDSAS, and site safety practices.
\n\tEnsure statutory and legal compliance across engineering contractors and operations.<\/p>\n
Operational Excellence & TPM<\/p>\n
\tLead the Early Equipment Management and Planned Maintenance TPM pillars, including SIMAS application.
\n\tEstablish and continuously improve preventative maintenance systems for plant and services.
\n\tDrive improvements in MTBF, MTTR, maintenance cost optimisation, and spare\u2011parts inventory in line with working capital targets.
\n\tImplement controls for accurate spare\u2011parts accounting and consumption.<\/p>\n
Sustainability & Utilities<\/p>\n
\tLead infrastructure improvements across energy, water, steam, and effluent treatment.
\n\tImplement energy efficiency and sustainability projects aligned to Unilever goals.
\n\tManage utilities, contracts, contractors, and service reliability.<\/p>\n
People & Capability Leadership<\/p>\n
\tCoach, develop, and build engineering and technical capability across the site.
\n\tActively lead talent, performance, and skills development to deliver sustainable results.
\n\tBuild and embed product, process, and packaging expertise relevant to the site asset base.
\n\tFoster a safety\u2011first, inclusive, and high\u2011performance culture.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
\tBSc Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
\n\tGovernment Certificate of Competency (GCC) \u2013 essential
\n\t3\u20135 years experience in FMCG or manufacturing operations
\n\tProven experience leading end\u2011to\u2011end engineering projects, including design, budgeting, and execution
\n\tStrong leadership experience managing large teams, stakeholders, and third\u2011party partners
\n\tSolid exposure to FMCG supply chain engineering (manufacturing, customer service, logistics, process)<\/p>\n
