ABOUT THE ROLE:<\/p>\n
\tThis role is a permanent full-time position.
\n\tWe are seeking an experienced and driven Mine Manager \u2013 Surface Operations to lead our open-pit mining activities at Mamatwan Mine. This role is critical in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable production while driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in surface mining, capable of optimizing performance, improving equipment utilization, and embedding disciplined execution across mining teams. This is a legal appointment as per Section 3.1.(a) of the MHSA and this role will be reporting to the General Manager.<\/p>\n
Other key responsibilities include, but aren\u2019t limited to:<\/p>\n
\tLead all surface mining operations to ensure safe, consistent, and cost-effective production delivery;
\n\tChampion our safety commitment: ensuring every employee goes home safe and well at the end of each shift;
\n\tDrive operational excellence through improved equipment utilization, productivity, and adherence to plan;
\n\tLead initiatives to improve overburden performance, mining rates, and cycle efficiencies;
\n\tEmbed a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and discipline across teams;
\n\tEnsure full compliance with MHSA regulations, company standards, and best practices;
\n\tManage and develop a high-performing team of supervisors, engineers, and operators;
\n\tCollaborate closely with maintenance, planning, and processing teams to optimize end-to-end value;
\n\tMonitor and improve key KPIs including production volumes, costs, availability, and utilization;
\n\tManage conflicts within the workplace & resolve grievances and disputes;
\n\tDriving safety culture upliftment through our Lead Safely Every Day (LSED) program;
\n\tEffective collaboration with other HOD\u2019s to drive the strategic objectives of the company (HMM Vision and strategy);
\n\tMentor individuals to enhance the individual`s knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in a selected career path<\/p>\n
ABOUT YOU:<\/p>\n
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:<\/p>\n
\tMust have minimum of 10+ years total mining experience at least with 5+ years at production HOD\/Section Manager\/Superintendent \u00a0level in surface operations;
\n\tCompetence in MHSA statutory appointments, management of departmental budgeting & \u00a0execution of operational strategy.<\/p>\n
Qualifications for this role are:<\/p>\n
\tDegree\/BTech\/National Diploma in Mining or related field, together with Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (DMRE) for Metalliferous\/Opencast mines;
\n\tLeadership or Financial qualification is advantageous.<\/p>\n
