Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tMEng or equivalent NQF level 9 qualification in engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering.
\n\tAt least 3 years of teaching\/professional experience.
\n\tEvidence of emerging research and publication record.<\/p>\n
Additional Recommendations<\/p>\n
\tGood communication and lecturing skills
\n\tA strong passion for teaching and research
\n\tProfessionally registered with ECSA or a plan to register in the short to medium term.
\n\tGood research track record or relevant research experience and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.
\n\tRequired to currently be pursuing a doctoral qualification in Engineering.<\/p>\n
Field of Expertise<\/p>\n
\tThe candidate must have expertise in at least two of the following areas:
\n\tThermodynamics, Strengths of Materials, Material Structures, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Modelling and Fluids Mechanics.<\/p>\n
Summary of Duties<\/p>\n
\tTeaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels.
\n\tResponsible for at least three modules per year in accordance with fair workload distribution.
\n\tDevelopment of learning materials for different courses.
\n\tSupervise BEng Tech design projects and be actively involved in research and\/or post-graduate supervision in the department.
\n\tAssist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
\n\tTo serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.
\n\tTo contribute\/lead curriculum design.
\n\tTo assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.<\/p>\n
