The Manager Finance performs a wide range of accounting and financial management duties in accordance with established accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. The role provides technical accounting support to the Regional Finance Director and the Accounting and Finance Teams across multiple jurisdictions. The Manager Finance \u00a0is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring strong governance, maintaining accurate financial reporting, and supporting compliance with corporate, tax, payroll recording,and statutory requirements.<\/p>\n
Key responsbilities:<\/p>\n
Financial Reporting & Accounting<\/p>\n
\tSummarise current financial status by collecting information, reviewing, assisting, and\/or preparing statements of financial position and profit and loss for companies in our jurisdictions
\n\tLiaise with and prepare financial reporting for African entities
\n\tSubstantiate financial transactions by auditing supporting documentation
\n\tMaintain accounting controls by preparing, updating, and recommending financial policies and procedures
\n\tVerify, allocate, post, and reconcile financial transactions
\n\tAnalyse financial information and summarise financial results for management
\n\tReview general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
\n\tSupport month-end close processes, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting
\n\tAssist with year-end close procedures and prepare audit schedules for external auditors.<\/p>\n
Operational Finance and Internal Controls<\/p>\n
\tReconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
\n\tDevelop, document, and maintain business processes and accounting policies to ensure strong internal controls
\n\tConduct financial and multiplier reviews of engagement performance
\n\tProvide guidance and support to accounting clerical staff.<\/p>\n
Payroll Accounting and Allocations<\/p>\n
\tAssist with SDH rate calculations
\n\tPerform salary variance calculations for the AIM region
\n\tValidate payroll allocations before uploading to SAP
\n\tEnsure all payroll entries are accurately captured in SAP
\n\tVerify salary transfers before release
\n\tReconcile salary bank accounts and salary creditors before payment
\n\tProcess all salary-related third-party payments
\n\tInvestigate ad hoc payroll-related queries from a finance perspective
\n\tManage cross-charging of payroll costs across regions based on engagement assignments.<\/p>\n
Tax Compliance and Regulatory Accounting<\/p>\n
\tPerform hypothetical tax accounting
\n\tManage tax equalisation\/protection accounting and perform reconciliations
\n\tApply general knowledge of corporate tax, income tax, and employee tax to ensurecorrect treatment and compliance
\n\tReview transactions to ensure accurate employee tax (PAYE\/UIF\/SDL) allocation and adherence to tax legislation
\n\tManage compliance for South African Reserve Bank (SARB) applications, exchange control reporting, and related regulatory requirements
\n\tApply detailed knowledge of the VAT Act to ensure correct VAT classification, submission preparation, reconciliation, apportionment calculations, and
\n\tTreatment of zero-rated\/exempt supplies.<\/p>\n
Client and Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tContribute to strong client relationships through positive, professional engagement with client personnel
\n\tCommunicate work status, challenges, and escalations to Managers and\/or the Director
\n\tCollaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting or compliance queries.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Education and Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
\n\tEquivalent practical experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing roles
\n\tMinimum strong working knowledge and practical application of IFRS
\n\tProven experience preparing financial statements
\n\tExperience with general ledger functions and month-end\/year-end close processes
\n\tWorking knowledge of South African Reserve Bank regulations and exchange control requirements.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills<\/p>\n
\tDetailed, technical knowledge IFRS application in operational finance
\n\tGeneral knowledge of corporate tax, company income tax rules, and compliance obligations
\n\tWorking knowledge of employee tax requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL)
\n\tDetailed, technical knowledge of the VAT Act and application in operational finance
\n\tAbility to interpret standard contract terms and apply correct accounting treatment
\n\tStrong organisational and critical thinking skills
\n\tHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail
\n\tAdvanced spreadsheet skills and strong computer literacy.<\/p>\n
