Job Description:<\/p>\n
\tThe Director: Maintenance Management oversees the maintenance and upkeep of facilities, equipment, buildings and grounds ensuring optimal functionality, compliance to safety regulations.
\n\tThe Director develops, plans and manages the execution of the Maintenance Policies, Strategies, Procedures for all engineered assets of the university for their entire life cycle.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tCraft and drive the implementation of the Facilities Management Maintenance Management Strategy aligned with the University Strategic Goals.
\n\tResponsible for the development of Maintenance Policies, Processes and Procedures that ensure the implementation of the Maintenance Strategy.
\n\tProvide maintenance of infrastructure and equipment related input into the University Master Plan.
\n\tDevelop and update infrastructure and equipment maintenance plans according to the university strategic plan.
\n\tImplement \/ Manage Facilities Management Systems to assist with Maintenance and Management of infrastructure and equipment.
\n\tOversee the sourcing, implementation and the management of maintenance related contractual agreements.
\n\tDirect the compilation, updating and maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure on the campus.
\n\tDirect the maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure on campus.
\n\tProduce and manage the specification and standardisation of all University Components.
\n\tBe actively involved in the University Smart Campus initiative.
\n\tIdentify and cultivate Continuous Improvement Initiatives and Maintenance Best Practices.
\n\tCradle to grave Management of all UJ Land and Engineered Assets.
\n\tProvides strategic leadership and direction to all external contractors on all four campuses.
\n\tCompile and manage the annual and multi-year Maintenance Budget related to all maintenance of infrastructure and equipment efficiently and effectively.
\n\tCreate a safe and conducive environment for all UJ internal and external stakeholders on campus.
\n\tProvide a healthy working environment for both internal and external.
\n\tEnsure compliance with statutory requirements (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
\n\tAdhere and enforce compliance with UJ standards, policies, processes and procedures.
\n\tCompile reports for University Executives and Committees of Council, Treasury, the Department of Higher Education and any other Structure as directed by the Executive Director.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tA Postgraduate Degree in Engineering (NQF 8).
\n\tTen (10) years\u2019 Maintenance Management experience in a multi-functional environment.
\n\tFive (5) years\u2019 Senior Management experience.<\/p>\n
Recommendations:<\/p>\n
\tA Government Certificate of Competence (GCC Factories Certification).
\n\tProfessional registration with ECSA.
\n\tA working knowledge of facilities management software systems with regard to management and maintenance of infrastructure and infrastructure related assets.
\n\tDevelopment of Maintenance Strategies and Policies.
\n\tContract Management experience.
\n\tA post Graduate Business qualification.
\n\tFive (5) years\u2019 implementation and management of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and relevant legislative requirements.<\/p>\n
Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:<\/p>\n
\tGood computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office.
\n\tProven ability to build and sustain excellent relationships, through clear and effective communication, with all levels of management across functions and divisions within the University.
\n\tAbility to successfully develop, interpret, and apply policies and regulations.
\n\tEffective customer service, people management and team leadership skills.<\/p>\n
