Primary Responsibilities Include:<\/p>\n
\tPrimarily responsible for the successful delivery of Capex renovation projects across the Belmond Africa Portfolio, for overseeing and managing the successful delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion.
\n\tCreate or oversee the creation (Depending on the size of the project) of comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, and timeline, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
\n\tApply for funding, appoint external consultants (if required), and drive the design and construction process, ensuring the projects are delivered within timelines and budgets
\n\tServe as the primary point of contact between the Company, contractors, architects, engineers, and other project external stakeholders
\n\tProactively address any delays or issues that may impact the project timeline and report changes\/risks upwards as soon as they become apparent.
\n\tConduct regular design reviews, site visits and inspections to monitor design and construction progress and compliance with design documents and safety, sustainability and any relevant local or international statutory regulations.
\n\tCreate or oversee creation of contracts with contractors, consultants, and vendors, ensuring all terms and conditions are adhered to, working with the legal department.
\n\tPrepare and present regular project status reports for stakeholders including but not limited to SLT members, properties and line manager.
\n\tOversee the final inspection and handover process, including the completion of punch\/snag lists and the submission of as-built documentation including O&M manuals<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tDeep understanding of the construction industry and project management best practices
\n\tExcellent financial management skills
\n\tCapability to prepare and present regular project status reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
\n\tGood technical Acumen with the ability to oversee and ensure projects meet technical, sustainability, and performance standards.
\n\tExperience in the luxury travel industry (preferred) and experience in luxury Lodge\u2019s advantageous
\n\tExperience with statutory regulations (local and international) related to construction and safety \u2013 essential
\n\tA Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying \u2013 advantageous<\/p>\n
