Description<\/p>\n
\tProviding strategic research direction for the Soil Science programme in harmony with the ARC\u2019s Strategic Plan,
\n\tPro-active personnel management in terms of application and effective utilization to maintain and strengthen the core of expertise within the Soil Science discipline,
\n\tRecruitment of funding and project management and in an agricultural and natural resource environment, both nationally and internationally,
\n\tAcquisition and maintenance of research equipment, computers, peripherals and specialized software,
\n\tPostgraduate student supervision, mentorship and research team leadership,
\n\tMonitoring and evaluation of research and technology development projects, and maintenance of scientific quality standards,
\n\tScientific networking, both nationally and internationally,
\n\tTechnology Transfer,
\n\tPlans and co-ordinates technical projects,
\n\tEnsures optimal utilisation of resources,
\n\tUndertake the development of new research projects which include proper planning, design implementation,<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tPhD in Soil Science\/Agronomy or any related qualification.
\n\tThe candidate must further have a proven research background across various fields in Soil Science.
\n\tMinimum of two (2) peer-reviewed publications.
\n\tProven record of writing proposals and participating as a speaker nationally as part of Master’s and PhD studies.
\n\tMust be able to show competence in presenting research results.
\n\tAbility to work with communities and conduct fieldwork.
\n\tWillingness to travel away from home for intermediate periods.
\n\tA valid driver’s license (Code 8\/EB) is required.
\n\tExperience in student supervision and mentoring.
\n\tRegistration with SACNASP (or evidence that registration could be obtained),
\n\tAbility to work with communities and conduct fieldwork,
\n\tGood communication skills (written and verbal),<\/p>\n
