Case Management matters:<\/p>\n
Strategic Case Management Oversight and Advisory<\/p>\n
\tOversee and advise the PFA on the design, effectiveness and efficiency of the OPFA\u2019s case management systems to ensure consistent quality output, alignment with international best practice, and the realisation of the OPFA\u2019s legislative mandate.
\n\tProvide strategic input and advice to the PFA on case management best practice developments, trends emerging from complaints data, systemic industry issues, and related matters.<\/p>\n
Governance, Policy and Regulatory Compliance<\/p>\n
\tOversee the development and review of case management policies, processes and standard operating procedures to sustain legitimacy, legality, lawfulness, consistency, and overall quality of output.
\n\tOversee and advise the PFA on case management products\u2019 compliance with applicable legislation, including the Pension Funds Act, Ombud Council Rules, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.<\/p>\n
Operational Performance Oversight<\/p>\n
\tOversee the performance of the OPFA\u2019s case management processes, including case finalisation rates, average resolution times, and related performance indicators, in line with the OPFA\u2019s strategic plan.<\/p>\n
Legal Oversight and Jurisprudential Integrity<\/p>\n
\tOversee the OPFA\u2019s litigious matters, monitor emerging court judgments, Financial Services Tribunal rulings, and other relevant case law, and identify emerging trends to provide technical input that supports the OPFA\u2019s jurisprudential integrity.
\n\tProvide technical input on complex investigations where required.<\/p>\n
Human Capital, Skills and Capacity Development<\/p>\n
\tIn collaboration with the HCRC, provide input on resource requirements, appropriate skills profiles, and training programmes for the case management function of the OPFA to ensure consistent quality output.<\/p>\n
Customer Satisfaction<\/p>\n

Role overview of Members (key responsibilities):<\/p>\n
\tPrepare adequately for meetings.
\n\tAttend scheduled and special committee meetings.
\n\tParticipate actively, objectively and courageously in committee meetings and activities.
\n\tChallenge and interrogate management assumptions and proposals.
\n\tAdhere to the Committee Code of Conduct and other applicable policies of the OPFA.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tA relevant bachelor\u2019s degree in law.
\n\tA postgraduate degree in law would be advantageous.
\n\tDemonstrable adjudication experience (including as a former judge of a court of law, Ombud, Arbitrator, or other dispute resolution experience).
\n\tMembership in a relevant professional body is preferred. (e.g., Legal Practice Council,\u00a0Institute of Directors in South Africa, etc.).
\n\tKnowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations the Companies Act, King V principles on corporate governance, and other relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
\n\tKnowledge of, and experience with, the Pension Funds Act, 24 of 1956, will be an added advantage.
\n\tAt least 10 years\u2019 experience in case management, judgment writing and\/or legal practice.
\n\tApplicants must not be disqualified in terms of section 69 of the Companies Act, 71 of 2008.<\/p>\n
