RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
KRA 1 \u2013 NATURE\u00a0CONSERVATION AND INTEGRATED CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n
\tAssist with field tasks related to nature conservation, monitoring and surveillance
\n\tAssist with integrated annual operations and work plan tasks
\n\tAssist with the implementation of ecological programmes and monitoring and surveillance, data collection and record keeping
\n\tAssist with alien invasive plant density verifications and inspections and firebreak assessments and inspections
\n\tExecute firefighting duties as per standards and protocols
\n\tAssist with risks, threats and hazards identification and report to management
\n\tAssist with fauna and flora management on the reserve; indigenous, invasive and exotic
\n\tAssist with the ecological restoration of degraded areas
\n\tPerform stand-by duties as per duty rosters and respond timeously to call outs and incident response<\/p>\n
KRA 2 \u2013\u00a0ECO-TOURISM, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS<\/p>\n
\tProvide visitors with information regarding the nature reserve, fauna, flora and conditions for access to the nature reserve
\n\tAssist with gate guard duties when gate guards are on training or engaged with other duties as assigned by management
\n\tMonitor and manage visitor behaviour and report incidents
\n\tEnsure CapeNature\u2019s customer care principles are maintained and implemented
\n\tAssist with guest check-in and check-out procedures
\n\tAssist with search and rescue operations in keeping with protocols and procedures
\n\tAssist stakeholder engagement officers and field rangers with the implementation of environmental education and awareness programmes
\n\tPerform Environment Control Officer (ECO) duties for film \/ photo shoots and events<\/p>\n
KRA 3 \u2013\u00a0MAINTENANCE OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the terrain is clean, neat and tidy at all times
\n\tUndertake and\/or assist with structure protection of office and eco-tourism nodes
\n\tManage stores and associated assets<\/p>\n
Identify maintenance needs and assist with the development of maintenance and repairs schedules:<\/p>\n
\tOffice buildings and stores, accommodation units, camping and picnic areas, ablutions and pools
\n\tRoads, trails, walkways and boardwalks
\n\tFences, gates, booms and access management structures, and other infrastructure, e.g. water reticulation systems
\n\tTools and equipment
\n\tVehicles
\n\tGardens and terrain
\n\tSignage (for operational and visitor information purposes)
\n\tImplement the maintenance schedule as prescribed<\/p>\n
KRA 4 \u2013\u00a0OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (OHS), ADMINISTRATION AND HUMAN RESOURCES<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in OHS assessments and OHS toolbox talks and provide input for Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA)
\n\tEnsure compliance with OHS procedures and standards
\n\tAssist with identification and mitigation of risks and threats in the work environment.
\n\tAssist with obtaining quotes for purchases related to duties.
\n\tAssist with administrative duties as and when required and adhere to CapeNature protocols and procedures
\n\tAssist with the preparation of fire logs and reports as and when required
\n\tFrom time to time, assist with supervision of contract staff and students
\n\tAs and when required, assist with training of contract staff and students
\n\tParticipate in meetings as required by management
\n\tUndertake transport duties<\/p>\n
KRA 5 \u2013 LAW ENFORCEMENT AND\u00a0COMPLIANCE MONITORING<\/p>\n
\tAssist with patrols as per compliance plans and duty roster
\n\tReport instances of unauthorised activities and\/or non-compliance with access permit conditions
\n\tUndertake permit checks and inspections at entrance points and within the Nature Reserve
\n\tParticipate in law enforcement operations and the manning of observation points
\n\tAssist in the response to incidents of non-compliance \/ unauthorised activities<\/p>\n
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12
\n\tAt least two years of related experience
\n\tA valid code B driver\u2019s license at least two years old from the date of issue
\n\tComputer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, Internet and online platforms)
\n\tNo criminal record<\/p>\n
