Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tResponsible for evaluating, preparing page layouts, formatting, customising, \u201cPDF\u2019ing\u201d, delivery and back up of custom high-end graphics, bespoke design requests and creative artwork for the business unit, with the aim of ensuring final material is 100% technically correct and ready for print or publishing, in line with Company Corporate Identity standards. Artwork deliverables may include a range of bespoke covers, templates, logos, invites, newsletters, flyers, posters, brochures and art files.<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas<\/p>\n
Desktop Publishing<\/p>\n
\tUnderstand the brief and ensure that all information and files are gathered
\n\tCo-ordinate planning to ensure deadlines are met and prioritise workflow
\n\tCollaborate with Fusion designers and writers to customise artwork or text
\n\tFind and edit graphics, such as photographs or illustrations
\n\tVerify source files and fonts and the conversion of files for print<\/p>\n
Format and PDF documentation and artwork and ensure this is checked 100% to technical specs, including:<\/p>\n
\tplace and resize localized screen dumps and art files, \u00b7
\n\tgenerate indexes and tables of contents
\n\tselecting formatting, such as the size and style of type, column width and spacing
\n\tselecting and checking colours
\n\tscanning and editing photographs and other images
\n\tproducing graphics such as diagrams, charts and tables
\n\tre-sizing design elements to fit the page
\n\tmaking sure images are positioned near the relevant portion of text
\n\tmaking sure that each page, and the document as a whole, is uncluttered and well balanced
\n\tusing electronic publishing technologies, such as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to convert documents to an internet-ready format
\n\tBe aware and have full understanding of cost implications and sense of responsibility towards budget restrictions
\n\tFinalize formatted documents for printing or electronic publication
\n\tCo-ordinate back up work and files correctly
\n\tProvide feedback to management<\/p>\n
Administration Support<\/p>\n
\tQuality assure artwork produced against CI standards; as well as check proofs, or preliminary layouts, for correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors and make necessary corrections
\n\tClose out any requests and any related admin with relevant stakeholders
\n\tMaintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tLiaises directly with the Fusion creative team and Traffic\/Production Manager to determine deadlines, job instructions and design requirements to ensure timeous delivery in line with agreed SLA
\n\tMaintain relationships with key stakeholders (including Unit and Group Marketing management) by promptly resolving queries; requests
\n\tReport and provide feedback to management on progress and challenges<\/p>\n
Job Requirements<\/p>\n
Education<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12
\n\tDiploma in graphic design, graphic arts, or graphic communications or equivalent
\n\tPresentation of an artistic portfolio\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\t3 years\u2019 experience in DTP
\n\tExperience using Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)\u00a0<\/p>\n
Skills and Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.<\/p>\n
Technical specs, which would include the following:<\/p>\n
\tSize – Bleed, trim, type and image area, die traces & die lines.
\n\tColour – CMYK, RGB, black & white, spot colour, varnish, overprinting,knocking out, press compensation.
\n\tFormat – Jpeg, tiff, pdf, open files, etc.
\n\tResolution – Dpi and scale.
\n\tFont – supplied or converted.
\n\tImages and logo – format, size, resolution, colour.
\n\tExtensive knowledge on retouching.
\n\tAn extensive knowledge of the Repro profession regarding both litho& digital processes
\n\tComputer literacy \u2013 MS Office
\n\tProficient verbal and written communication skills
