A prominent FMCG supermarket chain is seeking to hire a Deli Manager for its East London store.<\/p>\n
Minimum skills and experience required:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum Grade 12 \/ Matric qualification or equivalent; tertiary or food service credentials preferred.
\n\t2+ years of experience in a deli or food service environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
\n\tStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
\n\tFood safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
\n\tProficiency with inventory systems, POS terminals, MS Office and basic stock management tools.
\n\tAbility to work flexibly across shifts, including weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tOversee daily deli operations\u2014including food preparation, presentation, merchandising, and service.
\n\tSupervise, train, and motivate deli team to maintain productivity, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
\n\tManage inventory: order supplies, receive and stock deliveries, rotate stock, control waste and shrink.
\n\tEnsure accurate pricing, labelling, clean presentation, and adherence to company merchandising guidelines.
\n\tResolve customer inquiries and complaints efficiently and professionally.
\n\tMaintain a clean, sanitary work environment following food safety standards.
\n\tCollaborate with other departments (e.g. Bakery, Butchery, Produce) to drive cross-selling and meet overall store sales goals.
\n\tOccasionally perform hands-on tasks such as slicing, packaging, or assisting with production during busy periods.<\/p>\n
