Primary Purpose of the Job<\/p>\n
\tThe Application Specialist is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise business applications, with a primary focus on focus on Microsoft SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 services. The role acts as a bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring applications are stable, secure, and aligned with business requirements.<\/p>\n
Main Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Application Support & Operations<\/p>\n
\tProvide 2nd and 3rd line support for business applications, including SharePoint Online.
\n\tTroubleshoot incidents, perform root\u2011cause analysis, and resolve application issues.
\n\tMonitor application performance and availability.
\n\tManage application upgrades, patches, and enhancements
\n\tMaintain application documentation, support procedures, and configuration records.
\n\tSharePoint & D365<\/p>\n
Administer and support SharePoint Online, including:<\/p>\n
\tSite collections and site provisioning
\n\tPermissions, security groups and access controls
\n\tDocument libraries, metadata, content types, and workflows
\n\tDesign and maintain SharePoint sites for:
\n\tDocument Management
\n\tTeam Collaboration
\n\tBusiness Process enablement
\n\tSupport integration with:
\n\tMicrosoft Teams
\n\tOneDrive
\n\tPower Automate
\n\tPower Apps.
\n\tEnsure adherence to governance, data retention, compliance and information architecture standards.<\/p>\n
Business Engagement and Change Enablement<\/p>\n
\tEngage business stakeholders to gather and document application requirements.
\n\tTranslate business needs into application solutions or enhancements.
\n\tAssist with user acceptance testing (UAT) and deployment activities.
\n\tProvide user training, guidance, and application documentation.
\n\tParticipate in application\u2011related projects, including implementations and migrations.
\n\tSupport change management and release activities.
\n\tIdentify opportunities to improve application performance, usability, and automation
\n\tCollaborate with developers and technical teams on custom or in-house solutions.<\/p>\n
Requirements
\nQualifications<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12\u00a0
\n\tDiploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field\u00a0
\n\tMicrosoft certifications (SharePoint, D365, Power Platform) are advantageous<\/p>\n
Work Experience<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 3- 5 years\u2019 relevant experience\u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tExposure to AI-enabled features, AI agents, or AI model integrations \u2013 Desirable
\n\tApplied knowledge of the Power Platform, including:
\n\tPower Automate workflows (approvals, notifications, data synchronisation)
\n\tPower Apps custom SharePoint forms and canvas apps
\n\tConnector usage, triggers, actions, and platform limitations
\n\tEnvironment management and security considerations
\n\tApplication support and troubleshooting capabilities:
\n\tIncident diagnosis and resolution
\n\tRoot cause analysis and configuration-level troubleshooting
\n\tLog analysis and error interpretation
\n\tChange, release, and deployment support
\n\tUnderstanding of application dependencies and integration points
\n\tData and integration knowledge:
\n\tSharePoint lists and libraries as structured data sources
\n\tWorking knowledge of SQL databases (read-only \/ integration level)
\n\tConceptual understanding of APIs and system connectors
\n\tAwareness of how SharePoint data is consumed by reporting tools such as Power BI
\n\tTools and Platforms:
\n\tSharePoint Admin Centre
\n\tMicrosoft 365 Admin Centre
\n\tPower BI integration with SharePoint data sources
\n\tDynamics 365 CRM platforms
\n\tLow-code \/ no-code enterprise solutions<\/p>\n
Technical Competencies<\/p>\n
\tMicrosoft 365 ecosystem knowledge:
\n\tSharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Power Apps
\n\tApplication support experience in an enterprise environment
\n\tUnderstanding of:
\n\tUser access management and security
\n\tApplication lifecycle management
\n\tUnderstanding of SQL and data integration concepts
\n\tExperience in a regulated or corporate environment<\/p>\n
