\tNOV Africa is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven Temporary General Ledger Accountant to support general accounting activities across the NOV Group of companies in Africa. Reporting to the Africa Support Controller, this role operates within a centralized finance structure, managing key accounting functions across multiple ledgers.
\n\tThe successful candidate will work within a multicultural, high-performance environment, partnering with internal finance stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and strong compliance with NOV policies and local statutory requirements.
\n\tThis role is responsible for applying sound accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare reports, and maintain effective financial controls. As part of the Centralized Accounting Team, the Africa GL Accountant will contribute to the delivery of the broader finance function\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tPerform monthly reconciliations and analysis of accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, leases, intercompany and inventory. Including balancing subledgers to the ERP system.
\n\tEnsure all bank transactions are processed via the ERP system for both 3rd party and IC. In both local and cross border transactions.
\n\tEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting monthly and quarterly. Including preparation of annual statutory accounts and annual financial statements.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any reconciling items.\u00a0
\n\tApply accounting principles (IFRS and US GAAP) and ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.\u00a0
\n\tAssist with tax and financial audits as needed.\u00a0
\n\tProvide financial analysis and support to operational teams<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBachelors or higher degree in Accounting or Finance.\u00a0
\n\tProfessional Accountant (SA), AGA (SA) : Advantageous, but not essential<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\t3-5 years maximum general accounting experience in commerce or completed SAIPA\/SAICA Articles\/formal accounting training, knowledge of IFRS.
\n\tAdvantageous: Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX reporting.<\/p>\n
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tStrong understanding of accounting theory
\n\tHighly detail orientated and organized in work
\n\tProficiency with email and Microsoft applications\u00a0
\n\tAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management
\n\tFluent in English, French would be advantageous
\n\t\u00a0<\/p>\n
