Department of Internationalisation and Strategic Partnerships \n\n\n            \n\n            \n            Help Desk Agent (IT) &#8211; Department of Information Technology Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidates\u2019 responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>\tProvide support to lecturers and non-academic staff:<\/p>\n<p>Provide 2nd line support to lecturers to ensure:<\/p>\n<p>\tThe client&#8217;s AV need is understood;<br \/>\n\tThe right equipment is set up as determined by the needs analysis;<br \/>\n\tThe right equipment is available at the right time and place;<br \/>\n\tDiagnose and solve AV technical issues in critical timeframes across geographically dispersed locations;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tIdentify AV technical issues based on user service request;<br \/>\n\tEscalate unresolved client AV challenges to 3rd-level IT support;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProvide in-person and telephonic assistance related to AV problems in our venues;<\/p>\n<p>Provide IT support in collaboration with workstation support technicians:<\/p>\n<p>\tAssist with support on the computer as per the team leader&#8217;s directive;<br \/>\n\tAssist with software problems on the computer as per the team leader&#8217;s directive;<br \/>\n\tConfigure the University of Pretoria\u2019s enterprise Wi-Fi on devices;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProvide basic maintenance of Podium machines;<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance:<\/p>\n<p>\tProvide 1st line maintenance on AV and electronic equipment (Technical task);<br \/>\n\tReplace faulty or old AV equipment part of the system;<br \/>\n\tEnsure that calls are logged for venues to be maintained and operational at all times per agreement;<br \/>\n\tInspect venue and report structures, including cleanliness, operation, and general appearance for all AV equipment;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tEscalate unresolved maintenance problems to the 3rd level;<br \/>\n\tConduct equipment audit to maintain asset register as required:<br \/>\n\tReport discrepancies regarding equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Installation and repair:<\/p>\n<p>\tRepair and\/or replace damaged video and audio cables;<br \/>\n\tRepair overhead projectors, including bulb replacement;<br \/>\n\tInstall and wire Audio Visual equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Participation in events:<\/p>\n<p>\tProvide support to an event by being a selected member of an event&#8217;s team that will be responsible for AV systems;<br \/>\n\tSet up fixed and temporary installations of audio-visual systems;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProvide after-hours support when scheduled;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tOperate AV equipment for selected events; and troubleshoot and resolve problems;<br \/>\n\tSelect suitable equipment and ensure the safe return of the equipment from the store;<br \/>\n\tAssess the operability of equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Communication and teamwork:<\/p>\n<p>\tLiaise with team members to share real-time information;<br \/>\n\tProvide feedback on issues regarding incidents, changes, or configuration changes;<br \/>\n\tMonitor incident ticket completion that keeps the end user informed of the status;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tLiaise with all parties involved in incident handling;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tCommunicate additional user requirement to management;<br \/>\n\tReport non-standard implementations;<\/p>\n<p>Ticket handling:<\/p>\n<p>\tEnter user and service request information into the ESM solution to open an incident ticket;<br \/>\n\tDiagnose and resolve user incident ticket;<br \/>\n\tEscalate the request to the team leader or 3rd level where a solution is not available;<br \/>\n\tMonitor incident ticket completion and keep end user informed of status;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tClose out incident ticket in ESM solution upon completion;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAdhere to technical support policies, procedures, and processes in order to meet customer needs;\u00a0<br \/>\n\tResolve incidents upon the SLA of each such ticket.<\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n<p>\tA relevant National three-year Diploma, with:<\/p>\n<p>A total of two years\u2019 experience in:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tComputer operating and setup skills;<br \/>\n\tElectronic repairs;<br \/>\n\tMaintenance and repair of audio-visual systems;<br \/>\n\tSupport of audio-visual system;<br \/>\n\tValid driver\u2019s license;<br \/>\n\tCertificate in computer software, e.g., N+ or relevant;<br \/>\n\tWorking at heights certificate;<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>\tGrade 12;
