\tBotswana, Kenya, Uganda and Western Australia.
\n\tWe operate highly equipped repair workshops that service and maintain\u00a0agricultural equipment,\u00a0construction and forestry machinery, as well as\u00a0golf and turf equipment.
\n\tAFGRI Equipment is seeking\u00a0motivated and results\u2011driven candidates\u00a0to be appointed as\u00a0Tractor Apprentices\u00a0or\u00a0Earthmoving Apprentices.<\/p>\n
About the Apprenticeship<\/p>\n
\tThis apprenticeship consists of\u00a03 years of in\u2011service training\u00a0toward a qualification as a\u00a0Tractor Mechanic\u00a0or\u00a0Earthmoving Mechanic.<\/p>\n
Probation Period<\/p>\n
\tThe first\u00a06 months\u00a0serve as a probation period.
\n\tBoth the company and the apprentice can assess suitability for a long\u2011term relationship.
\n\tEither party may withdraw during this period without consequences.<\/p>\n
Training Structure<\/p>\n
After probation, the apprentice enters into an AFGRI contract and begins formal training, which includes:<\/p>\n
\tAttendance at a\u00a0Practical Training Institute\u00a0for relevant phases (if required).
\n\tRegistration for\u00a0subjects\u00a0via distance learning through a college (if required and available).
\n\tSaturday classes may be required.
\n\tDistance learning may continue during workplace training.
\n\tProduct Training\u00a0from relative suppliers or AFGRI specialists.
\n\tInternal training\u00a0hosted by AFGRI specialists.<\/p>\n
Training Authorities<\/p>\n
AFGRI supports training through:<\/p>\n
\tAgriSETA\u00a0(Agriculture Sector Education and Training Authority), or
\n\tMerSETA\u00a0(Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services SETA).<\/p>\n
Both AFGRI and the apprentice will be contracted to one of these SETAs.<\/p>\n
Costs and Commitments<\/p>\n
\tTraining provided is free of charge\u00a0if passed.
\n\tAny failed subjects or phases must be repeated\u00a0at the apprentice\u2019s own cost and time.
\n\tThe apprenticeship is bound by a\u00a03\u2011year contract.
\n\tIf the apprentice withdraws during the apprenticeship or the required\u00a0work\u2011back period, repayment of training costs will apply.
\n\tWork\u2011back period equals the time it took to qualify (calculated in years).
\n\tThe apprenticeship contract\u00a0cannot exceed 4 years.
\n\tIf the apprentice does not qualify within 4 years, the contract expires.<\/p>\n

\n\tMathematics\/Technical Mathematics (NOT Mathematical Literacy)
\n\tEngineering\/Technical or Physical Science\u00a0(advantageous, not compulsory)
\n\tEngineering Graphics & Design\u00a0(advantageous, not compulsory)
\n\tDiesel Trade Theory\u00a0(advantageous, not compulsory)
\n\tMotor Trade Theory\u00a0(advantageous, not compulsory)<\/p>\n
