We are seeking an experienced, technically versatile Data Analyst to join a high-performing banking environment in Sandton. This role is suited to a data professional who thrives at the intersection of data analytics, system design, and emerging AI capabilities.
\n\tYou will play a key role in transforming complex datasets into meaningful business insights, while also contributing to the development of scalable data solutions and supporting AI\/ML initiatives. Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tPerform deep-dive analysis across complex and diverse datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and business opportunities
\n\tTranslate business and project requirements into actionable data solutions and insights
\n\tManage and deliver multiple ad hoc reporting requests with accuracy and efficiency
\n\tAnalyse and understand end-to-end data flows, from source systems to reporting layers
\n\tDesign, build, and maintain scalable data models to support analytics and reporting needs
\n\tCollaborate with business stakeholders to define technical specifications and reporting frameworks
\n\tDevelop and optimise data pipelines, integrations, and data processing workflows
\n\tWork across enterprise databases including IBM DB2, Oracle, Netezza (NZ), and SQL Server
\n\tSupport AI\/ML initiatives through data preparation, validation, and contribution to model development
\n\tIndependently manage workload, priorities, and delivery timelines
\n\tDocument data logic, methodologies, and findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
\n\tUtilise advanced MS Excel capabilities for data analysis and reporting
\n\tDevelop insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI<\/p>\n
Required Skills & Experience<\/p>\n
\t8+ years’ experience in data analytics, software development, or systems architecture
\n\tStrong programming skills in SQL, Python, and\/or R
\n\tProven experience working with enterprise databases: DB2, Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server
\n\tSolid understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and system design principles
\n\tExperience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
\n\tWorking knowledge of AI\/ML concepts, including data preparation and model lifecycle
\n\tStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
\n\tAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
\n\tExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders
\n\tAdvanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, macros)
\n\tExperience building dashboards and visualisations using Power BI<\/p>\n
Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tDegree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
\n\tExperience with additional visualisation tools such as Tableau or similar
\n\tExposure to modern data engineering practices and tools<\/p>\n
