Minimum Criteria Required:<\/p>\n
\tNational diploma in Biomedical Technology or BSc Medical Laboratory Science
\n\tRegistration in relevant discipline with HPCSA<\/p>\n
Experience:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\t3-5 Yrs Relevant Working Experience
\n\t0-1 Yrs Supervisor Experience<\/p>\n
Relevant Job Knowledge:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tMedical ethical guidelines in the medical pathology field
\n\tLaboratory information systems
\n\tLaboratory standards operating procedures and processes
\n\tAnatomy, physiology and medical terminology relevant to medical pathology
\n\tOrganisational policy and procedures<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tAssists with management of staff including recruitment, motivation,development and disciplining of staff where necessary to ensure that operational objectives are achieved.
\n\tMonitors the implementation of service levels and quality standards, ISO 9000, 15189 and lean processes in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice, SANAS accreditation requirements, Quality assurance including quality control, health and safety, standard
\n\toperating procedures, turn-around time targets and service level agreements with clients, to ensure that the laboratory is constantly able to deliver a high quality, cost effective and safe service.
\n\tImplements and maintains laboratory accreditation, including preparation for audits, maintenance of current status, document updates and scope of approved tests, to ensure that accreditation is achieved or obtained in line with organisational objectives.
\n\tMonitors the maintenance and calibration of the equipment used in the laboratory to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results. This includes ensuring that instrument maintenance and quality control results are recorded and reviewed as well as trouble shooting and corrective action is taken and documented.
\n\tProvides input into evaluation and validations of new equipment and methods to ensure standardisation and continuous technological advancement.
\n\tOversees asset management and procurement of goods to ensure the most effective utilisation of resources, optimisation of stock levels and cost containment.
\n\tGenerates management reports as required to monitor work and performance status of the laboratory and takes corrective action when required.
\n\tPerforms investigations into and resolution of customer complaints to ensure a positive image of the organisation by clients and patients and to promote the services of Lancet laboratories.
\n\tOversees and monitors training, seminars and participation in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to ensure that laboratory staff continuously update their knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up to date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
\n\tOversees and performs on-site training of laboratory staff, interns, students, medical colleagues and associated health workers to ensure that they are competent in various laboratory techniques, processes and systems.
\n\tAdheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organisational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards and monitors compliance of own employees in this regard.
\n\tPerforms the role of a medical technologist as required in accordance with operational needs.<\/p>\n
