Job Description:<\/p>\n
\tThe Miner is responsible for controlling the relevant mining process by the optimal utilisation of people and equipment to achieve stipulated targets in accordance with the mining plan.<\/p>\n
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:<\/p>\n
\tCoordinating and monitoring the relevant Drilling and Blasting activities to ensure adherence to mine standards and operational targets
\n\tThe management of all SLC mining related Explosives
\n\tControl and management of the CBS, Electronic Det Timing
\n\tBulk Emulsion Handling (storage, transportation, charging and blasting process)
\n\tControl of all Long Hole Drilling Consumables, Drill rods, Shanks, Drill bits etc
\n\tDust control Management in drilling section
\n\tPlanning activities in accordance with the mining plan and allocating resources as required
\n\tCoordinating shift hand over at the beginning of the shift by checking relevant documentation, the required physical mining activities and communicating tasks to team members of the relevant mining crew<\/p>\n
This role is in the Mining Department at a Band 8 Level and reporting to the Shift Boss.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
Education required:<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 \/ N3 \/ Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
\n\tBlasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock \/ Equivalent Qualification
\n\tRequired classification as per VTS testing for specific role (Orange)
\n\tComputer Literacy – MS Office Suite (Word\/Excel\/Power Point\/Outlook)
\n\tValid EB\/Code 8 Drivers License<\/p>\n
Experience & knowledge required:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum of 3 years underground mining experience of which at least 1 year must have included the supervisory skills of planning, organising, leading and controlling in long hole mining.<\/p>\n
Sound knowledge and experience of:<\/p>\n
\tUnderground mining practices and operations
\n\tSafety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
\n\tKnowledge of Explosives Regulations (MHSA Chapter 4)
\n\tExplosives Handling
\n\tExperience in Emulsion Charging Rig operation
\n\tElectronic Det Timing
\n\tCentral Blasting System (CBS)
\n\tUp hole\/long hole Charging
\n\tSub Level\/Block caving<\/p>\n
Other requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBe prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role may require
\n\tMust have strong administrative and organisational skills
\n\tAbility to work under pressure, be independent and a self-starter
\n\tMedical Certificate of Fitness to work underground. Medical assessment will include vertigo and claustrophobia amongst others. Able to tolerate physical exertion
