\tA leading steel manufacturing and distribution company is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor with strong experience in production operations, team leadership, and continuous improvement within a heavy industrial or steel environment to join their team in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape. The role focuses on driving operational efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring adherence to strict health and safety regulations within a fast-paced production setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising plant performance, managing production teams, and supporting ongoing process improvements aligned with world-class manufacturing practices.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tSupervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output targets
\n\tLead, mentor, and develop production teams to improve performance and productivity
\n\tMonitor production efficiency and implement improvements to optimise output
\n\tEnsure adherence to quality standards and reduce defects through process control
\n\tDrive continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving measures
\n\tCollaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to minimise downtime
\n\tMaintain strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
\n\tAnalyse production data and adjust schedules to improve plant performance
\n\tManage workforce planning, shift coordination, and resource allocation
\n\tEnsure effective use of systems such as SAP and production monitoring tools<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tProven experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar role within steel, manufacturing, or heavy industry
\n\tStrong leadership and team management experience
\n\tSolid understanding of production processes, quality control, and continuous improvement methodologies
\n\tExperience working with systems such as SCADA, DCS, and SAP
\n\tStrong knowledge of health and safety regulations (OHS)
\n\tAbility to analyse data and optimise production performance
\n\tExcellent communication and problem-solving skills
\n\tRelevant qualification in production, engineering, or health and safety (advantageous)
\n\tWillingness to work in a demanding industrial environment
