We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our Health & Safety Department. Reporting to the Safety Supervisor, this role is critical in ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing risk, driving safety performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the company.<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
\n\tMaintain the company\u2019s LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) below target.
\n\tManage fire team evacuation drills and emergency preparedness.
\n\tConduct routine audits and inspections to measure departmental compliance.
\n\tDeliver accurate and timely administrative work (reports, filing, legal registers, updates).
\n\tMaintain safety signage, conduct risk assessments, and deliver toolbox talks.
\n\tContinuously evaluate risks and assess safety equipment effectiveness.
\n\tRecord, report, and investigate incidents; document corrective actions.
\n\tHealth and Safety training requirements.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowledge & Skills<\/p>\n
\tSAMTRAC \/ Risk Management or equivalent qualification\/Diploma in Health & Safety Management or Environmental Health
\n\tMatric certificate
\n\t2\u20133 years\u2019 experience as a Health & Safety Officer
\n\tEmergency preparedness, response training.
\n\tComputer literacy in Safety Management Systems (e.g.: Shopware, SHEQX)
\n\tStrong report writing skills<\/p>\n
