As School Psychologists your role is to support students\u2019 ability to learn and teachers\u2019 ability to teach. As experts in mental health, behaviour, learning and the school systems your key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tProvide counselling services to school learners across the phases of learning
\n\tSupport students in crisis by offering timely interventions.
\n\tCollaborate with the school-based support team to ensure students’ academic and emotional progress.
\n\tPlan, coordinate, and present workshops to promote mental health and well-being.
\n\tMaintain accurate case histories and prepare monthly reports and statistics.
\n\tConduct psychoeducational and IEB assessments.<\/p>\n
Skills and Competencies:<\/p>\n
\tProficiency in applying psychological models to enhance students’ emotional well-being.
\n\tStrong interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
\n\tAdherence to high ethical standards.
\n\tCommitment to ongoing professional development.
\n\tEffective time management and administrative abilities.
\n\tPositive attitude toward change and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tMaster\u2019s degree in Counselling or Educational Psychology, or a BPsych degree.
\n\tAt least five years of relevant experience. Experience with teenagers essential.
\n\tRegistration with HPCSA as a Psychologist or Registered Counsellor.
