KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS<\/p>\n
Successful candidates will be required to:<\/p>\n
\tAssist with the inspection and surveying of small vessels
\n\tParticipate in scheduled training and skills development activities
\n\tSupport compliance monitoring in line with maritime safety standards
\n\tParticipate in maritime safety awareness and outreach initiatives
\n\tCompile and submit basic inspection and compliance reports
\n\tSupport operational duties under the guidance of a Mentor \/ Surveyor<\/p>\n
PLACEMENT LOCATIONS<\/p>\n
Successful applicants will be placed at one of the following locations:<\/p>\n
\tRichards Bay
\n\tDurban
\n\tEast London
\n\tGqeberha (Port Elizabeth)
\n\tMossel Bay<\/p>\n
STIPEND<\/p>\n
\tParticipants will receive a monthly stipend of R10 000 for the duration of the programme.<\/p>\n
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:<\/p>\n
\tCertificate of Proficiency (COP), Diploma in Maritime Studies or a related maritime qualification
\n\tA BSc in Nautical Science will be advantageous
\n\tMust be an unemployed seafarer or have a maritime qualification in a related field
\n\tAged 18 to 35 years
\n\tMust meet applicable maritime medical fitness requirements
\n\tBasic knowledge of maritime safety legislation and regulations
\n\tGood communication and report writing skills
\n\tAbility to work in inland waters (recreational dams), port, and coastal environments
\n\tPreference will be given to suitably qualified unemployed seafarers<\/p>\n
