\tRegistration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
\n\tPost Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre Technique
\n\t5 years Operational Experience in a Theatre Unit
\n\tScrub experience in Cardiothoracic Neurosurgery and or Ophthalmology will be advantageous
\n\tPrevious experience in a management position will be advantageous
\n\tKnowledge of the legislative and Occupational Health and Safety requirements
\n\tValid Driver\u2019s licence and ability to travel
\n\tAfterhours availability \u2013 own transport
\n\tWork flextime
\n\tExcellent Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
\n\tExcellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills
\n\tThe skill to manage nursing standards and in-service training
\n\tMaintain a professional image and character
\n\tBuild sound working relationships with multidisciplinary team
\n\tAccurate record keeping and the management of stock
\n\tCommitment to initiate and implement continuous improvement projects
\n\tExcellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
\n\tKnowledge of the Kronos System<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBe operational as well as manage the administrative duties
\n\tManage the Theatre Department
\n\tLiaise and communicate with Surgeons
\n\tManagement of staff
\n\tEnsure adherence to policies and procedures at all times
\n\tManage staff according to the Basic Conditions of Employment and the Disciplinary Code, staff-planning and Recruitment and Selection of staff
\n\tManage the day to day problem solving.
\n\tStock and equipment management including ordering of stock and equipment
\n\tAccurate billing of stock utilised
\n\tTraining and development of Theatre staff
\n\tAfter hours cover as per a roster
\n\tConduct regular inspections
\n\tMaintain infection control strategies and procedures of the hospital
\n\tMaintain health and safety principles
\n\tMaintain and apply the required discipline
\n\tEvaluation, intervention and resolution of patient complaints and queries
\n\tPrepare daily, weekly and monthly reports
\n\tManage ad hoc projects as and when required<\/p>\n
