{"id":35118,"date":"2026-05-04T14:00:29","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/demand-planner-network-supply-planner-logistics-manager\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T14:00:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:00:41","slug":"demand-planner-network-supply-planner-logistics-manager","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/demand-planner-network-supply-planner-logistics-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Demand Planner \n\n\n            \n\n            \n            Network Supply Planner \n\n\n            \n\n            \n            Logistics Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JOB PURPOSE<\/p>\n<p>\tTo work as part of a cross-functional team (sales, supply planning and finance) to deliver the sales forecasting and demand management process within Vector.<\/p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n<p>Strategic Planning<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a0Execute the degree of forward planning (3 &#8211; 6 months, 2 years etc.) as defined by management.<\/p>\n<p>Sales Analysis<\/p>\n<p>\tOn a weekly and monthly basis, analyse actual sales to generate the forecast, make recommendations, and drive continuous improvements to gain consensus with the cross-functional team on the forward forecast (including base and event).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Base Demand Planning and Forecasting<\/p>\n<p>\tAnalyse historical demand and remove anomalies (including outliers) from the norm using historical information, knowledge of the category and through getting input from the sales teams.<br \/>\n\tIdentify the most appropriate statistical forecasting model for each product group in order to generate an accurate base forecast.<br \/>\n\tGenerate the base demand plan using the most appropriate statistical forecasting algorithm and make adjustments where necessary.<br \/>\n\tUnderstand any variance between actual customer demand and the statistical forecast and appropriately challenge, change and make recommendations to the base forecast.<\/p>\n<p>Events\/Promotions Forecasting<\/p>\n<p>\tWork with the customer team to determine promotional activities volume and track the effectiveness of the promotion (costs vs promotional volume increment).<br \/>\n\tQuestion the promotional volume based on the success\/failure of past promotions.<br \/>\n\tUse the promotions grid and related discussions with the sales team as input into the event forecasts.<br \/>\n\tWork closely with the sales team to document the assumptions for each promotion, driving clarity on volume, price and customers.<\/p>\n<p>Consolidated Demand Forecast and Continuous Improvement<\/p>\n<p>\tPresent forecasts along with assumptions to get a consensus forecast to be used by the Business.<br \/>\n\tPublish the agreed forecast in an appropriate format to ensure transparency and one set of numbers. This will include publishing the information on the intranet and uploading into SAP and the finance forecasting tools.<br \/>\n\tUse the agreed forecasting KPI&#8217;s to drive improvement in the forecasts and to minimise volatility. Use these KPI&#8217;s to assist when analysing the historical data while generating the forecasts.<br \/>\n\tPublish the forecasting KPI&#8217;s in the agreed format, in line with the agreed timeline for weekly reports and monthly scorecards.<\/p>\n<p>Innovation Management<\/p>\n<p>\tWork with the sales, supply planning and procurement teams to develop the forecast for new products using appropriate forecasts copied from other products plus appropriate market intelligence.<br \/>\n\tDocument all assumptions.<br \/>\n\tTrack and publish KPI\u2019s for each new innovation.<br \/>\n\tWhen discontinuing a product, work closely with the supply planning team to ensure accurate \u2018bleedout\u2019 forecasts to enable a smooth run-out process.<br \/>\n\tUse the agreed forecasting KPI\u2019s (bias, hits and misses and accuracy) to drive improvement in the forecasts and to minimize volatility. Use these KPI\u2019s to assist when analysing the historical data while generating the forecast.<br \/>\n\tPublish the forecasting KPI\u2019s in the agreed format, in line with the agreed timeline for weekly reporting and monthly scorecards.<\/p>\n<p>Portfolio Management<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a0Complete the data analysis to provide input into discussions on portfolio management.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Make recommendations on where opportunities exist to remove SKU&#8217;s from the portfolio using agreed guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Sales and Operations Planning<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a0Work closely with the Demand Planning Manager and finance team to deliver the Sales and Operations Planning pack, ensuring that the information is available on time and is accurate.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Using the forecasting and customer service KPI&#8217;s, work closely with the supply planning team to deliver improvements in customer service, particularly by providing insight into stock holding by branches to ensure that promotions are delivered.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Provide the required data to the Finance team in the appropriate format to enable the annual and quarterly budget planning process.<\/p>\n<p>Master Data and Hierarchy Maintenance<\/p>\n<p>\tContribute to the maintenance of master data and hierarchies.<\/p>\n<p>Project Coordination<\/p>\n<p>\tParticipate as an integral member of cross functional teams to deliver business projects.<\/p>\n<p>Administration<\/p>\n<p>\tOversee filing and safeguarding of records within area of responsibility.<br \/>\n\tCompile ad hoc spreadsheets when required.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Reporting<\/p>\n<p>\tReport on demand by principal.<br \/>\n\tCompile other reports as set out by management.<\/p>\n<p>Team Coordination<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a0Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning, prioritising and self-development.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolution.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Support and drive the business core values.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Manage colleagues and clients\u2019 expectations and communicate appropriately.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Demonstrate willingness to help others and \u201cgo the extra mile\u201d to meet team targets and objectives.<br \/>\n\tChampion training and development of self and others through utilising available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions relating to product costing in collaboration with national training specialists.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in and drive regular performance appraisals and ensure that own targets and goals are clear and achievable.<br \/>\n\tMaintain a basic appreciation and awareness of employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n<p>\tBachelor of Commerce\/Economics degree or related Supply Chain National Diploma<br \/>\n\t2-3 years supply and\/or demand planning experience<br \/>\n\tPrevious experience on SAP and SAP BW would be an advantage<\/p>\n<p>Skills and Competencies<\/p>\n<p>\tTranslating modelling techniques into business language<br \/>\n\tVerbal and written communication<br \/>\n\tComputer literacy (SAP and MS Office skills prerequisite)<br \/>\n\tReport writing<br \/>\n\tInterpersonal<br \/>\n\tRelationship management<br \/>\n\tLogical thinking<br \/>\n\tAnalytical thinking<br \/>\n\tPresentation<br \/>\n\tNumeracy<br \/>\n\tOrganisational awareness<\/p>\n<p>go to method of application \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( http:\/\/www.vectorlog.com\/ ) or<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"","_company_name":"Vector Logistics","_company_website":"http:\/\/www.vectorlog.com\/","_company_tagline":"We are a Supply Chain and Sales & Merchandising partner adding value to your business through a fully integrated, temperature controlled network in Southern Africa.
