Underground Construction Manager (Mining – 12 Month Contract)<\/p>\n
\tOur client, a leading company in the mining industry, is seeking a Underground Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of construction activities related to mining operations.
\n\tThe successful candidate will ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position will be based on-site in the mining area located in Mooi Nooi, North West.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tEngineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent qualification.
\n\tMinimum of 10 years\u2019 experience in construction management within the mining industry.
\n\tStrong knowledge of mining operations, construction techniques, and project management.
\n\tProficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
\n\tExcellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
\n\tSolid understanding of environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.<\/p>\n
Roles and Responsibilities:
\nProject Planning & Scheduling<\/p>\n
\tDevelop detailed construction plans and schedules.
\n\tCoordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams.
\n\tEnsure alignment with mining production timelines.<\/p>\n
Site Management<\/p>\n
\tSupervise all construction activities on-site.
\n\tEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
\n\tManage subcontractors and construction crews effectively.<\/p>\n
Budget & Cost Control<\/p>\n
\tMonitor project budgets and control costs.
\n\tApprove expenditures and manage financial reporting.
\n\tIdentify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.<\/p>\n
Resource Management<\/p>\n
\tAllocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently.
\n\tEnsure timely delivery of construction materials and equipment.
\n\tManage logistics and supply chain coordination.<\/p>\n
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)<\/p>\n
\tEnforce strict safety protocols and procedures.
\n\tConduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
\n\tPromote a culture of safety among all site personnel.<\/p>\n
Quality Assurance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure construction meets design specifications and standards.
\n\tOversee inspections and testing of materials and structures.
\n\tAddress non-conformances and implement corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Communication<\/p>\n
\tLiaise with project managers, engineers, and clients.
\n\tProvide regular progress updates and reports.
\n\tResolve conflicts and ensure stakeholder expectations are met.<\/p>\n
Regulatory Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure construction activities comply with mining regulations.
\n\tObtain necessary permits and approvals.
\n\tMaintain documentation for audits and inspections.<\/p>\n
