\tThe Buildings Desktop Assessor is responsible for assessing property damage claims remotely using digital\u00a0tools and documentation. The role involves evaluating damage, verifying cover, quantifying repair costs, and\u00a0making recommendations for settlement\u2014all while providing exceptional customer service. The Advisor\u00a0works closely with the Team Leader and supports the end-to-end claims process in line with company\u00a0policies and regulatory standards.<\/p>\n

Minimum Qualification Required \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12\/Standard 10\/NQF 4 \u00a0
\n\tRelevant qualifications in building surveying, construction\u00a0management, or insurance-related fields (e.g., CII, CIOB, RICS\u00a0certifications).<\/p>\n
Minimum Experience \u00a0<\/p>\n
\t1\u20132 years\u2019 experience in insurance claims (preferably\u00a0property\/building-related) \u00a0
\n\tBasic knowledge of building materials, construction principles, or \u00a0property assessments \u00a0
\n\tExposure to digital claims handling platforms or document-based\u00a0assessments \u00a0
\n\tCustomer service experience in a call centre or insurance\u00a0environment is beneficial.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tClaims Assessment & Processing\u00a0 :
\n\tEvaluate property damage claims via documentation (photos, contractor\u00a0quotes, reports) \u00a0
\n\tConfirm policy coverage, validate scope of loss, and assess the\u00a0reasonableness of repair costs. \u00a0
\n\tRaise queries with policyholders, brokers, or contractors where information\u00a0is incomplete or inconsistent. \u00a0
\n\tRecommend settlement values based on findings and policy terms.\u00a0
\n\tCustomer Service :
\n\tCommunicate clearly with clients regarding claims decisions and progress. \u00a0
\n\tMaintain a professional and empathetic approach during all interactions. \u00a0
\n\tEnsure clients feel supported throughout the claims process.\u00a0
\n\tCompliance & Documentation\u00a0 :
\n\tEnsure all claims processed comply with regulatory and internal standards. \u00a0
\n\tMaintain clear, detailed notes and upload all required documents on theclaims system. \u00a0
\n\tCollaboration :
\n\tEscalate complex or high-value claims to the Team Leader or Technical\u00a0Assessor \u00a0
\n\tLiaise with internal teams (e.g., Underwriting, Fraud, Legal) as required.
\n\tSupport the assessing team with administrative and technical tasks as\u00a0needed. \u00a0<\/p>\n
