RAINBOW is currently recruiting for a Plant Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager and based at our Chicken Processing site in Hammarsdale P2.
\n\tThe Plant Engineer will be responsible for managing, with a dedicated focus, the day-to-day maintenance operation within area of responsibility with his team (Foremen, Shift controllers and Artisans). \u00a0The role also includes Project planning- Prioritizing, scheduling, and allocation of tasks to the different disciplines of the engineering department, with the assistance of the planner, Engineering Foremen, and Project Cost control (control of approved budget and subcategories).<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tA completed Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
\n\tGCC Factories qualification (preferable Electrical Engineer with GCC).
\n\tMinimum of 8 years\u2019 trade experience in a similar environment, of which at least 5 years was in a management category.
\n\tFMCG company background.<\/p>\n
Knowledge and Skills:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tExcellent understanding of mechanical, refrigeration and electrical engineering.
\n\tThorough understanding of Labour Relations Act.
\n\tExcellent management and leadership skills.

Duties & Responsibilities \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tConstantly looking and finding ways to improve plant efficiency and effectiveness.
\n\tRegularly reviews and monitor progress, taking action to reschedule and re-prioritize (must be able to \u201cthink on his\/her feet\u201d).
\n\tAbility to handle problems encountered with machinery and find a solution with immediacy.
\n\tIdentifies training needs and recommends training of employees to the departmental trainer.
\n\tImplements Company\u2019s disciplinary procedure, which includes written warnings and initiation of disciplinary enquiry\u2019s where necessary.<\/p>\n
Project planning:<\/p>\n
\tStrategize capex focus to reduce plant down time and improve efficiencies of machines and Production lines.
\n\tEnsure that health and safety requirements as per the Rainbow standard are adhere to with regards to specifying new equipment.
\n\tProcess change control documentation with regards to all equipment and plant changes with proven records for audit purposes.
\n\tManage and control the fixed asset register and ensure that it is updated as per policy and depreciation is in line with group standards.
\n\tEnsure that all project work in plant is carried out and completed to the highest level of trade-man ship quality and to safe food requirements.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Maintenance:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and implement an effective planned preventative maintenance system for the facility as well as oversee major repairs of breakdowns thus minimizing R&M costs in the region.
\n\tEnsure all buildings and accessories are utilized into risk, security, safety, health, HACCP AND ISO22000, 14000, 18000.
\n\tRisk Management: In terms of design, use and maintenance, ensure all facilities comply with health, safety, security and other legal requirements.<\/p>\n
Operational Engineering Management:<\/p>\n
\tDrive the daily \/ weekly maintenance planning process for the plant \u2013 prioritizing, scheduling, and allocation of tasks to different disciplines of the engineering department, with the assistance of the planner.
\n\tDrive and deliver the agreed strategy to reduce plant down time and improve efficiencies of machines and lines.
\n\tResponsible for health and safety with regards to all equipment and plant to ensure a safe environment to operate and work on for all staff.
\n\tConstantly looking and finding ways to improve plant efficiency and effectiveness,
\n\tRegularly reviews and monitor progress, taking action to reschedule and re-prioritize (must be able to \u201cthink on his feet\u201d).<\/p>\n
Repairs and Renovations:<\/p>\n
\tCoordinates renovations of existing facilities and the construction of new facilities.<\/p>\n
Management of Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ):<\/p>\n
\tGuides the engineering team to ensure that all legislative standards are achieved, and timeous action is taken where required to ensure that there are no areas of noncompliance.
\n\tFollow up on requirements for compliance ensuring that it is continuously maintained and adhered to.<\/p>\n
Safety and Security:<\/p>\n
\tEnsures engineering staff follow safety rules and regulations as per the organization\u2019s safety plan Ensure that security access points to the premises and BMS system are in good working condition.<\/p>\n
Financial Management:<\/p>\n
\tManage costs to ensure lowest cost production and the optimal utilization of assets.<\/p>\n
