Job description<\/p>\n
\tInput and plan packaging design & roll out needs of category area as per 12 \u2013 18 month operating plan
\n\tOpal & FPI champion, driving the new system and assisting matrix with milestones
\n\tTrack & drive adherence to the timelines with all key stakeholders for all scoped projects as set in the FPI Innovation system
\n\tInternal stakeholders: matrix teams (Incl. technologist, buyer, buyer assistant and PD), packaging & print specialists, marketing account Managers, system support specialists, legal team (i.e. trademarks, naming conventions.)
\n\tExternal stakeholders : suppliers, printers , external design studio , external DTP teams, courier company
\n\tInputs and responsibilities within the packaging and design process:
\n\tParticipate in concept and supplier blue sky meetings where packaging is front of mind with product. GBJ consideration etc.
\n\tEnsure packaging complies to the legislation of various countries outside of RSA
\n\tPackaging specification to be captured in the FPI Innovation system
\n\tEnsure SKU & Range Overview & FOP Briefs have been submitted
\n\tInput the cost centre owner for design and ensure that the cost estimate gets approved (incl. Photographer, stylist etc.)
\n\tCo-ordinate required pre-prods with all key stakeholders timeously incl. print production meetings and manage any requirements in support of; e.g. mock-up\u2019s, product samples.
\n\tConfirm and supply Dielines for Design Finalisation
\n\tTrack & drive adherence to the timelines escalating non adherence \/ slippage to appropriate Matrix team heads
\n\tAssist the Product developer with Legal trade mark search: e.g. google searches
\n\tCo-ordinate the sign off of travel tests with key stakeholders (PD, tech & supplier) to ensure workable packaging specification. Submit sample to space planning team for layout pre-work, once approved.
\n\tCo-ordinate the approvals of red and black seal of packaging (if required e.g. tins, printed glass, prepress)
\n\tCollate information for RO and obtaining sign off from supplier and PD
\n\tInput and responsibilities for artwork & pack copy roll-out \/ DTP
\n\tOptimise relationships with the matrix team; take part in team meetings, status on each new or upgraded product. Weekly management meeting attendance.
\n\tObtaining Printer specifications and ensure that the Print pre production occurs and that specs are supplied to Print Technologist
\n\tAssign the cost centre owner for artwork and ensure that the cost estimate gets approved
\n\tEnsure that the \u00a0DTP cost are signed off by buyer and ensure agency has receipt
\n\tBefore external agency brief artwork\/pack copy roll-out request oracle PO and ensure agency have receipt before job commences
\n\tManage invoices against signed off quote
\n\tEnsure accuracy and usability with packaging printer and Account manager of worksmaps \/ die-line before roll-out
\n\tEnsure that the packaging specialist has confirmed packaging recyclable claims
\n\tEnsuring that that the relevant trademark searches have been completed and communicate outcome to Matrix team
\n\tCheck AWB is completed to best practice and aligns to design sign off layout within 48 hours to allow for amends before AWB submit deadline. Off-line with matrix team.
\n\tEnsure OPRL and other packaging requirement listed are correct on 1st pass including dieline and print specs
\n\tOrganise \u2018team sign off sessions\u2019 as required. \u2013 with Key stakeholders on urgent projects
\n\tRecord keeping and time management of key stakeholders input at each stage, incl. supplier reverts (\u2018tracker\u2019) against agreed timelines at on-set of project.
\n\tTracking & Drive adherence to the timelines escalating non adherence to timeline to appropriate Matrix team heads
\n\tInput required at printer stage:
\n\tAgree on expected date for chromalin \/ print proof sign off with supplier \/ printers and manage key stakeholders signoff.
\n\tCo-ordinate On press approval with print supplier and Print technologist.
\n\tEnsure barcodes scans and is approved Buyer\/ buyer assistant.
\n\tConfirm receipt of press approval \/ print approval (ideally filed under the hard drive packaging folder) for future record keeping.
\n\tComplete SKU on Opal
\n\tCirculate the DF sessions agenda to ensure key stakeholders are kept informed at all times, and escalate any issues with sufficient time to stakeholders
\n\tOutside of process other responsibilities include:\u00a0
\n\tReviewing current processes and make proposals with a view to improving them
\n\tSetting up supplier meetings which inform relevant packaging critical path \u00a0stages
\n\tSend parcels to assist the packaging development process (Suppliers, printers, etc.)
\n\tOrganizing \u00a0packaging mock-up\u2019s for strategic meetings, design or marketing requirements
\n\tReceived and co-ordinate the sign off gold seals , incl. Management
\n\tSubmit gold seals to the space planning , \u00a0on-line and management team
\n\tAssisting with online pack upgrades etc. To ensure all products are up to date and in new packaging
\n\tDriving shelf builds and mock ups of new range
\n\tProvide electronic range overviews or hard copy reference of each range in its greater design for the category.
\n\tDrive packaging reduction with packaging suppliers, PD and Central Technology.
\n\tCollaborate with new and existing suppliers to push the boundaries in packaging.
\n\tRecognize financial impact of decisions on the business, to work more effectively with the team<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tRelevant 3-year degree \/ diploma
\n\tBasic understanding of the different printing processes & materials
\n\tUnderstanding of the design & print stages and timelines which inform the critical path.
\n\tUnderstanding of costs involved and how one can influence them.
\n\tKnowledge of stores and the retail environment
\n\tUnderstanding of category packaging trends & how they could support & inform the category strategy
\n\tGood understanding of specific area printable packaging needs
\n\tExcellent co-ordination and time management skills
\n\tExcellent administrative and organizational skills
\n\tGood presentation, communication and negotiation skills
\n\tStrong service delivery mind set.
\n\tProblem solving skills to find creative solutions to barriers
