Main Purpose:<\/p>\n
\tThe Management Accountant provides accurate and insightful financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making within the organisation. The role includes management reporting, costing, budgeting, forecasting, tax support (including company tax), cash flow forecasting, compliance, and group financial coordination.<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas include:<\/p>\n
Financial Reporting<\/p>\n
\tPrepare monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
\n\tCompile performance dashboards for senior management and operations.
\n\tProduce job-level, workshop-level, and cost centre profitability reporting.
\n\tPrepare month-end journals (accruals, provisions, depreciation, adjustments).
\n\tSupport quarterly and annual financial reporting cycles.<\/p>\n
Group Financial Reporting<\/p>\n
\tPrepare reporting submissions for Group consolidation.
\n\tAlign reporting with Group policies, charts of accounts, and deadlines.
\n\tReconcile and submit intercompany transactions.
\n\tProvide Group with variance explanations and supplementary schedules.
\n\tEnsure consistency and accuracy in Group reporting formats.<\/p>\n
Budgeting and Forecasting<\/p>\n
\tAssist in development of annual budgets for the business.
\n\tPrepare rolling 12\u201318-month forecasts and scenario models.
\n\tReview operational inputs from workshop, procurement, and sales teams.
\n\tIdentify budget deviations and recommend corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Treasury<\/p>\n
\tTake responsibility for the entire cash management process.
\n\tEnsure effective cash flow and net liquidity management.
\n\tLiaise with the bank relationship manager and other stakeholders and manage banking relationships and processes impacting payment execution.
\n\tEnsure controls around bank platforms (user access, payment templates, limits, signature mandated guided authorisation, audit trails) are implemented and reviewed periodically.
\n\tOversee the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors.
\n\tMonitoring cash inflows from key customer accounts
\n\tCash Flow Forecasting.
\n\tPrepare accurate weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
\n\tIncorporate, at a minimum: Receivables: expected invoice timing, customer payment behaviour, Eskom payment cycles.
\n\tPayables: creditor terms, large supplier commitments, subcontractor milestones.
\n\tCapex: planned and approved capital expenditure.
\n\tCurrent assets: inventory movements, WIP levels, deposits, prepayments.
\n\tBank facilities: overdrafts, revolving facilities, utilisation forecasts.
\n\tIdentify cash risks and propose mitigation measures.
\n\tWork with operations and procurement to validate incoming and outgoing cash assumptions.
\n\tProvide early warning of possible liquidity pressures.<\/p>\n
Costing and Job\/Project Analysis<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate costing models for valves, spares, labour, machining and subcontracting.
\n\tAnalyse job cards, WIP, labour bookings, material consumption, and overhead allocations.
\n\tMonitor job profitability and identify cost overruns or leakage.
\n\tVerify BOM accuracy for repair jobs and new valve builds.
\n\tConduct cost-to-complete reviews for service projects and long-running jobs.<\/p>\n
Tax Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
\n\tEnsure timely completion, filing, and submission and payment deadlines of any tax returns.
\n\tProvide guidance to the business on any transactions with tax implications, ensuring correct treatment and risk mitigation.
\n\tEnsure accurate tax computations and well-supported estimates, staying with relevant legislative changes.
\n\tRemain up to date with changes to the most relevant tax legislation applicable to the business and train supporting departments with any changes to be affected through transactional records.<\/p>\n
Indirect Tax (VAT, payroll taxes)<\/p>\n
\tPrepare VAT workings and reconciliations for review.
\n\tEnsure correct VAT treatment on sales, repairs, exports, and cross-border transactions.
\n\tSupport EMP201\/EMP501 payroll tax reconciliations.<\/p>\n
Direct Tax \/ Company Tax<\/p>\n
\tAssist in preparation of corporate income tax supporting schedules.
\n\tMaintain tax computation files for auditors and external tax consultants.
\n\tEnsure timing differences, permanent differences, and deferred tax impacts are identified.
\n\tMaintain compliance with SARS requirements and assist during tax audits\/queries.
\n\tTrack and maintain provisional tax schedules and payment timetables.<\/p>\n
Regulatory and Statutory Compliance<\/p>\n
\tSupport compliance with IFRS principles (as required for management reporting and Group submissions).
\n\tMaintain documentation for statutory audits, internal audits, and BBBEE verifications.
\n\tSupport adherence to the Companies Act, financial policies, and internal controls.
\n\tMaintain control registers (capex, fixed assets, delegations, governance registers).
\n\tEnsure financial governance procedures are consistently implemented.<\/p>\n
Annual External Audit and Internal Audit Support<\/p>\n
\tPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
\n\tProvide explanations, reconciliations, and evidence for audit queries.
\n\tAssist in ensuring timely completion of audit deliverables.
\n\tImplement corrective actions arising from audit findings and control reviews.<\/p>\n
Operational Finance Support<\/p>\n
\tConduct margin and cost analyses for workshop, procurement, and sales teams.
\n\tSupport tender and quotation reviews with validated financial assumptions.
\n\tMonitor PPV (purchase price variance) and supplier performance.
\n\tAssist with stock control, stock counts, and inventory valuation.<\/p>\n
Supervisory \/ Coordination Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tProvide oversight and guidance to AP\/AR\/Cashbook Administrators.
\n\tReview reconciliations prepared by junior finance staff.
\n\tEnsure month-end cut-off and reporting accuracy.
\n\tProvide training and mentorship where required.
\n\tAny other job-related duties as required from time to time.<\/p>\n
Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tFacilitate the application and maintenance of insurance policies and bank guarantees.
\n\tManage all insurance claims processes effectively.
\n\tTo identify opportunities to reduce insurable and non-insurable risks.
\n\tTo optimise the best possible risk to coverage ratio in the best interest of the company.<\/p>\n
Other:<\/p>\n
\tManage and report on any special projects as assigned, including turnaround initiatives, cost optimisation and process redesign.
\n\tProvide ad hoc financial analysis and leadership support aligned to business priorities.
\n\tEnsure effective and compliant document management system for department.
\n\tRecruit, manage the performance, train, develop and retain Human Capital to achieve above objectives being mindful financial talent pipelines and BBBEE requirements.
\n\tDesign, implement and monitor key internal controls designed to minimise the risk of fraud and error in key operational cycles.<\/p>\n

Preferred Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tCom. Accounting or B.Com. Finance degree.
\n\tCIMA or SAIPA would be advantageous.
\n\t3 \u2013 6 Years\u2019 experience in accounting, costing or management accounting.
\n\tExperience in engineering\/technical\/manufacturing or workshop environments.
\n\tExposure to Group reporting and consolidated submissions.
\n\tExperience with tax schedules and year-end audit packs.
\n\tComputer literacy (MS Office).
