Role Overview<\/p>\n
\tWe are seeking a driven and committed Legal Professional specialising in Labour Law to join our Cape Town office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional labour law advice to policy holders, representing them through informal mediation and negotiations, drafting legal correspondence, and conducting consultations with the aim of resolving matters amicably.
\n\tThis role operates within a legal insurance environment, not a traditional law firm. Employees do not attend court. Instead, the role functions within a call centre-based legal services environment, where communication with policyholders and attorneys takes place primarily via telephonic and email correspondence.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tLLB Degree with specialisation in Labour Law (admission as an Attorney or Advocate is advantageous)
\n\tAbility to speak, read, and write at least two official South African languages, one of which must be Afrikaans or Sotho
\n\tMinimum of 2 years\u2019 post-articles Labour Law experience in a legal environment
\n\tDemonstrated expertise and strong working knowledge of Labour Legislation and Practice
\n\tStrong ethical standards with proven honesty and integrity
\n\tFully computer literate with excellent communication and administrative skills
\n\tStrong drafting and legal research skills
\n\tAbility to work independently and take initiative
\n\tInnovative, proactive, and solution-driven approach
\n\tExcellent teamwork and collaboration skills
\n\tHigh level of legal knowledge
\n\tPositive, motivated, and professional mindset<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tObtain comprehensive instructions from policy holders via consultations (telephonic, written, or in person)
\n\tProvide immediate basic legal and product advice where required
\n\tAttend to Labour Law\u2013related matters
\n\tExplain company processes and exclusion procedures to policy holders
\n\tDraft warning letters, referrals, correspondence, settlement agreements, wills, and representations
\n\tConduct mediations to assist in resolving legal matters
\n\tProvide regular progress feedback to policy holders (minimum twice monthly or as required)
\n\tMaintain accurate, detailed file notes and proper case administration
\n\tApply Labour Law principles to facts and provide legal opinions (written and telephonic)
\n\tConduct ongoing legal research to stay current with labour legislation and case law
\n\tAssess merits of cases for legal advice and litigation cover
\n\tEnsure compliance with internal legal, claims, and policy requirements
\n\tLiaise effectively with administrative and support staff
\n\tVerify policy payment history monthly
\n\tFollow rejection and exclusion procedures accurately
\n\tEnsure timely completion of all tasks within set deadlines
\n\tDeliver consistently high performance standards<\/p>\n
