\tResource Allocation:\u00a0Managing budgetary and resource allocation to support the institution’s mission and goals.
\n\tProcess Improvement:\u00a0Identify and implement efficiencies to enhance service delivery and reduce costs.
\n\tStrategic Planning:\u00a0Collaborate with Executive Manager: Core, to develop and execute strategic plans that align with the institution’s mission and vision.
\n\tLead and Direct:\u00a0Lead and Direct the Institute\u2019s Research Management Agenda.
\n\tShared Services Management:\u00a0Collaborate with the Executive Management Shared Services\/ Corporate Support, in overseeing the shared services functions within the institution, ensuring they operate cohesively and meet their respective objectives.
\n\tPolicy Implementation:\u00a0Ensure that policies, procedures, and regulations are effectively communicated and adhered to throughout the Institute.
\n\tPerformance Evaluation:\u00a0Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the institution’s performance and make data-driven decisions.
\n\tRisk Management:\u00a0Identifying and mitigating operational risks and challenges that could impact the institution’s mission or reputation.
\n\tStakeholder Relations:\u00a0Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and externa stakeholders.
\n\tInnovation and Technology:\u00a0Promoting the adoption of innovative technologies and practices to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
\n\tEmergency Response and Continuity Planning:\u00a0Implement plans for emergency response, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
\n\tCompliance and Legal Affairs:\u00a0Ensuring that the institution complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
\n\tHuman Resources Management:\u00a0Collaborating with Human Capital Business Partner, oversee personnel, including hiring, training, and performance management, to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.
\n\tFinancial Management:\u00a0Collaborating with Finance Business Partner, oversee campus\u2019s finances and financial health, budget and cost management and financial reporting.
\n\tCommunication and Reporting:\u00a0Providing regular updates to Executive leadership, governing boards, and other stakeholders on operational performance and progress toward goals.
\n\tConflict Resolution:\u00a0Handling internal conflicts and disputes within the Institute in a fair and constructive manner.
\n\tCrisis Management:\u00a0Leading the institution’s response to crises or emergencies, coordinating efforts to mitigate negative impacts.
\n\tEthical Leadership:\u00a0Upholding and promoting ethical standards and values within the organization, setting a positive example for all employees.
\n\tStakeholder Engagement:\u00a0Engaging with Stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns and ensuring the institution’s services are responsive to those needs.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tDoctoral degree (PhD or DSc) with post-doctoral research experience in Plant Science, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
\n\tA minimum of 10 years\u2019 relevant experience post PhD\u00a0in research and development within the grain crops sector.
\n\tA minimum of 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
\n\tExperience in Small Grains sector will be an added advantage.
\n\tAt least 10 years\u2019 experience at middle management level.
\n\tDemonstrated strong research output and fundraising track record, including competitive grants.
\n\tProven capability in project and programme management, partnership development, and collaborative research.
\n\tExcellent organizational, planning, monitoring, and control skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
\n\tProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
\n\tSound performance and financial management skills, with demonstrated leadership and negotiation ability.
\n\tProven experience in personnel, financial and facilities management.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license, ability and willingness to travel (locally and abroad).
\n\tProfessional registration or membership with a relevant scientific body (advantageous).
\n\tEvidence of national and international scientific recognition.
\n\tDemonstrated public speaking experience, including presentations, media engagements (e.g., radio & television), and poster or exhibition participation.<\/p>\n
